So about a month ago, I posted up the KLZE MX-3 for sale, and sold the Probe GT to my little brother... And, Acquired this....
Its a Really nice '91 MR2 with a Turbo Swap. 20k on a rebuilt engine done with OEM Toyota parts, Rebuilt CT-26 Turbo and a whole ton of extras.
First Impressions.... Ugh, I Absolutely LOVE IT!!!! Look forward to making it my own (No Chameleon on this one) Input? First upgrade will be some wheels and tires for sure!!
Nice! They are fun cars that aged very well. Does it have the navy blue interior (they put that so many of them)?
I've always loved the way those cars look
Its Blue, I thought it was Black that had faded Lol...
lol.... Na, this is a 3S-GTE...

I would kick him straight in the balls.
Looks like a great example, always loved those cars. Congrats!
Nice. I've always wanted one of these. Almost bought a yellow T-bar years ago but seller refused to sell at the last second.

Excellent Choice!
<---Says the biased fanboi.
Only advice is to jump on mr2oc.com - I've been pretty happy with the community over there, on average. I hang out in the mk1 area most of the time though, so ymmv.
wheels, and then nothing...drive the piss out of it. Keep it on the road for as long as possible...clean examples are getting harder and harder to find.
I followed a 1st gen for about a dozen miles over the past weekend on Montgomery road coming out of Kenwood, all the way up to Landen. It was an older guy with veteran plate frames and a handicapped plate - pristine midnight blue metallic , bright and clear chrome, dark black trim, even the exhaust was a healthy shade of slightly dusty silver. It had the MR2 mudflaps intact, ditched the rear window 'yota spoiler....not a spec of rust to be seen. From my vantage point, the interior looked great...no signs of fading on the headrest fabric, no drooping headliner, and at one point was able to see the dash was crack free as well. Pulling away from every stoplight, I saw the familiar nose droop and lift of a 3 pedal car...and just sat back and smiled. I thought to myself, "rock on, veteran dude...rock on"...
A super clean example of an AW11 in Cincinnati is rarer than a unicorn fart, especially one being driven on a warmer than usual sunny day in February, by a senior citizen, selecting gears from an H pattern layout, with no particular place to go.
it was awesome
Ordered new Floor Mats, Ashtray, and Smoked Turn Turn/Marke Lights as well as a Carbon Fiber Shifter Knob... Gotta make it a comfy & happy place to be!
Interesting thing about this car. Its the 75th MR2 off the production line... VIN 0000075.... kinda neat!
If you put a body kit on it or turn it into a faux F430, a group of us will be at your door with pitchforks.
No way! Its too sexy of a car to be riced out!! No worries of that happening here.

Prefer the MK1, but with a sweet price I would be swayed by this car. Have fun!
Im in it $400 between selling the MX-3 and Probe GT Turbo
After having owned a MK1 for 6+ years, I now want a MK2, and a MK3... all at the same time.
Too bad I don't have a 5 car garage.
Well I have been loving the hell out of this thing!!! I have done a few modifications to the car (New Smoked Lenses on the Front, Carbon Fiber Shift Ball, New TwosR'Us Floor Mats, 17" Motegi's 7" Front & 8" Rear, New BFG G Sports all around). Also learned a few of the Mods on the car, and averted one near disaster.
The car has a rebuilt engine with ~20k on it All Toyota parts were used (except a Cometic Head Gasket, and ARP Head Studs), 3" XSPower Downpipe to a 2.5" Muffler (for now 3" Stainless coming Friday), Coilovers, Rebuilt CT-26, I have 4 sets of Wheels/Tires for it, all the parts to put A/C & Cruise back on it. Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure...
Car as I got it...

Now to talk about the disaster that was avoided....
I had the car for a couple weeks, and not really a hiccup. Took my dog out to do its thing, and while walking past the MR2, I'm thinking thiis cars looks great!!!
As I walk back down the street, I see what I thought was steam coming from the engine compartment lid... Now the car had been sitting for over an hour at this point and my initial guess was maybe a coolant hose let go? Walk over and get a whiff and OMG.... Its electrical!!! I immediately open the engine cover and the internals of the alternator are literally GLOWING!!!! I run up front, remove the spare tire, and disconnect the battery. Whew!!!! Talk about spooked!!! I've been told that the diodes went bad inside the alternator and the battery voltage was shorting through the winding of the alternator. Luckily the cars wiring was completely unscathed, except for the plug for the alternator that melted from the heat in the alternator. I sourced a plug from of all things a Dodge Intrepid (though I did have to add 1 Female Terminal its a 2 pin, and the MR2 is 3pin)...
Crazy that I was right there as all this started, and avoided the car burning to the ground... Not its time to go I guess!!! Lol...
Here's a few pics from the previous owner of the engine rebuild...
Anja, if your ever in this neck of the woods, your welcome to give it a drive :-)
I bought a turbo back when they were new and drove it for 7 awesome years! The interiors were black, they just fade to the bluish color. I still have the stock alloys behind my house....one day i'll buy another....
Congrats on the car!
Nice save! Motegis look good :)
My love affair with those started with my friend, Vince's first car, a turbo. He and I went to Burbank to look at it, neither of us knew how to drive stick back then, with me having a little better grasp of the concept. He bought the car and it was decided I would drive it the hour and a half on the freeway back home, in rush hour LA traffic. I only stalled a couple times but it was such a fun car to drive. The sound of the blow off valve was fascinating to me at the time.
Yeah definately shook me up a lil... Glad I could fix it, and it was an easy fix at that ;-)
MR2 Turbo as a first car??? Thats awesome!!!!!!
Today i replaced the plugs, and cleaned the Greddy it filter. Tomorrow, I'm replacing the inner CV Joint on the drivers side. Pics to follow
