Here is one coning together in the Minion's shop. AKA "The other place I go to drink beer"

As arrived:

About two months later:

This one should bolt together quickly from here. Will try to post a few pics along the way.

Way too overdone. Seems like every other 1967 Mustang is an “Elenor Clone.” And please don’t get me started on matte paint....

I like it, that's a very nice blue. Certainly a fine shop for drinking beer. Iconic movie cars get copied a lot, but I like to see them anyway. I prrsonally like Eleanor clones better than Bullitt clones.

Funny you should mention the Bullit...this was the last one. About to do its first burnout of it's new life. Sorry but I don't seem to be able to post video on here any more.

I'm unfortunately not old enough to be taken seriously when I say that Eleanor is a yellow Mach 1.

I don't care if they're done a lot, I still like them. My only complaint about movie cars is what they do to prices.

Are these personal cars, or paid projects? Your timeframe would allude to the latter.

May be overdone, but I like it! My only issue with the late 60's muscle cars is the crappy steering, I would need to install a rack and pinion if I built one.

Looks like an excellent place to drink beer to me!

They were everywhere about 10-15 years ago when the Nic Cage version of Gone in 60 Seconds came out.  I think things have calmed down some since then.  Personally, I wouldn't kick any late 60s fastback Mustang out of my garage.

Amen, brother. The original Eleanor was a normal but desirable  car - the last of the real Mustangs - that became an icon because of how it starred in a classic independent film. The “new” Eleanor is an old car besieged by an truly unfortunate late 90’s body kit with a bunch of very dated styling cues that look tacked on, and replaced by a cgi hero car in the important parts of a fairly limp Disney movie. I really don’t understand the appeal.

But as a hot rod shop, you can make money copying the new one. Not so much the old one.

As for Bullitt, the styling has aged well because they were well chosen mods that were of the era of the car so they improved the lines of the car instead of conflicting with them.

I am a huge fan of Eleanor.  To this day I still want a yellow '73 with a 351C.

I don't know what this thread has to do with Eleanor though.

Oooh... The original Gone in 60 Seconds is free on Amazon Prime.

I know what I'm doing when I get home.

I like the color on the first Eleanor he did. The favourite though was a 69 coupe that he put a coyote into with a 06 dash. Could not get the HTOB to bleed and the owner was out of $$$ so it never fired.

Yeah... Eleanor "V2.0" is silver. This car is blue, although I prefer the blue.

Ran out of money on an Eleanor clone? That's gotta be rare... cool

Dude, do you have any better pictures of those wheels?

There are probably as many unfinished Eleanor clones due to lack of funds as there were abandoned Volvo 1800 V8 swaps due to lack of planning.

"Oh... crap... I guess that's why finished Eleanors tend to sell for good prices - it's not cheap to build a good one."

You mean I am not the first to try and do a V8 in a P1800? It’s not abandoned yet!

The Coyote swapped car is on the road. Just needed to rest in order to buy new transmission and the HTOB. I think the guys lambo also needed a new clutch and it was like 15k.

By the way, did you see the P1800 ES that sold on BAT this week? Was thinking you should have been bidding it went cheap cause of the auto gearbox I suspect.

If farming the work out, 60k would be around what the Eleanor is going to run.

Two ES's sold recently (oddly enough - both orange). An M41 car for $26,000 and a BW35 car for $14,200, which these days is a decent price. Honestly, I think the rust shown hurt the value the most. As you are aware, small bubbles in the paint can turn into lengthy rust repairs.  That can be the way with these cars. You can spend $30,000 restoring a $2000 car... or $30,000 restoring a $10,000 car... and without really inspecting the car in depth and in person it's pretty much impossible to tell from pictures.  As I've mentioned, as much work as my car needs - nothing is hidden.

It's funny... when my ex- and I first started getting into 1800's almost 15 years ago, we saw a bunch of failed V8 conversion cars for sale.  These days not so much.  Typically, the V8 & trans would be installed in the car, but that was about it - nothing hooked up.  No brakes. No steering. And usually no exhaust unless they chopped up the firewall to move the engine back into the interior space a la a Cobra. Naturally, the heater box was long gone as well. Then the car looked like it had sat for 10 years or more before something forced the sale. By that point, they weren't worth much more than scrap, which was kinda sad.
