Budget Adventure Bike: 2009 BMW G650GS

I grew up on 250-400cc two smoke enduros (remember when we called them that?), the sun was setting on the heyday of the 400-650cc Brit desert sleds. Weight was the enemy. Stepped away from motorbikes for 20 years, and the Adventure-Touring thing started. Not sure I can ever get into it, even though I'm considering a 3-400 cc dual sport. With a full ADV bike I'm sure I'd get to a place where my "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up" button would not work, and I'd for sure fall, and not be able to get up.

My latest scooter? Absolutely street based, an older Monster 900.

And SOLD! My first adventure bike rode off into the sunset over the weekend with a smiling college kid at the helm. Hopefully he takes it on some of his own adventures.
