Nice.
I thought about this... way back when.
Are you going to beef up the lower shock plate?
In reply to a_florida_man :
Maybe. I think I can build a filler block to carry the load into the original leaf spring perch. That should be enough...
Well, its been a minute or two. I have made the updates I noted on the last page and actually finished all the prep for this year's challenge, with a whole week and a half to spare. Lowered attitudes have been set and the suspension settings adjusted to suit (then raised back up so it can load on the trailer. Brake fluid was flushed. Oil changed. all the body panels are back on the car.
Based on Maschienenbau's corner weight post and comments, I even got the car on the scales. Good news is the race attitude weights are really pretty good, even if the total weight is a little heavier than I expected. This is with me in and a full tank of fuel. Not bad for just checking and not needing any significant adjustments. I really should have tried to knock a few pounds out of the driver this spring...
So total weight is ~800 pounds more than the lotus and I don't have much more power than the lotus, but I do have HUGE tires and reasonably balanced weights and spring rates, so grip should be good.
I will post some more pictures later.
Just waiting for the door numbers to arrive, so I can get it stickered up before load out.
And pictures...
No the rear wing is not mounted in the second picture, I have too much crap filling the garage...
Congrats to Steve on another WAY cool update to the C4, since the 22 Challenge a few months ago!
Back to back 3rd place finishes! 2022/23.
This event we had:
Awesome facelift and theme, as usual.
MUCH needed engine tuning.
High quality front coil over fabrication.
Cost effective rear spring ride height adjustment.
As you many may have heard or seen, I've bought the C4 back from Steve, for my boys to enjoy building here in Florida as a team and as future drivers.
Steve will still be on our Team (as I was on his), but the ownership and heavy lifting will be here and Steve is going to be enjoying a little more space in NC for his next big (top secret) Challenge car build.
Stay Tuned....
Dreamed I bought a racecar last night.
...chuckled....
looked out the window...
rubbed my eyes again
uh-oh
;)
...checking for tattoos...
I just got back home and it seems I forgot to pack something when I left Gainesville.
But look at all the room for activities.
Thanks to a_florida_man for all the help for the past few events, and enabling. That is one heck of a first car project for his boys to be involved in.

You ain't kiddin' buddy....
I had a go-kart at this age.
...but your not out of this yet... I expect reciprocal enabling!
So, I'm not sure which of these two pics are the best....
My friend since middle school, Stafford1500 handing my son the "keys" to our new team car.....
Or this picture of Jack, stunned... and trying to figure out if what just happened was real or part of the skit.
In any case... many many thanks to Steve for selling the car back to us.
We have a very high bar to maintain.
Messing around with some rebody ideas.

corvair van / pickup. they were named corvair 95 because of the 95" wheelbase.
monzora would not have happened if i had found a $100 rampside before i found the $100 coupe.

The 80-85 Rx7s had a 95" wheelbase. Widebody Mazda?
