If you do go carb, let me know what you would want for the crossfire setup

Stock one live at the same height, about 14 inches farther back. Where else would he put it?

The Miata Exocet car is pretty close. That body replacement frame might be a good reference since they did some FEA work on the chassis.

The build has been slow. I have spent another day on it to improve and finalize the tubular structure. I was going to post pictures but the changes and additions are difficult to discern.

Unfortunately I haven't been feeling well. The Doc's say that I need bypass surgery. I'm a severe diabetic as well and have had some complications due to that. My health insurance was cancelled just before my last heart attack and my new insurance doesn't go into effect until Jan 1st. I'm trying to lay low until then. If I feel good I will do some more work on it and post progress pictures.

I like the Exocet frame. Something like that with the C4 parts would be cool. I'ld like to do one. I hope that I can.

I wish that I could put the fuel cell in a lower position. But, Unless it's hung out the back I don't see any way to do that. The car that I built, and is in my header, has a wide trans tunnel. There is a fuel tank that is mounted from the bottom of the tunnel. This puts the weight as low as possible and in the center of the car. I will say that it is the best handling car that I have ever driven.

Thank you for your good wishes.

I left the C4 project at a friend of mines shop in Sept. He builds race cars or a living and was going to finish welding everything up. I haven't been back since. But, I am going next week.

Unfortunately I've been looking at the pictures and am going to make a couple of changes to the bolt in frame. So, it's not done yet.

He's also going to be welding the frame for my new Stinger project. I purchased a set of molds for a small mid engine 1966 racing car. I just received most of the molds. I'll be laying up a body and then will work with him to design the frame. I'll keep busy this winter.

Having fun.

Surprised nobody has posted this yet... same car as linked to above, just revamped.

That said, I've been seriously looking into doing this with a vette as it might just be the cheapest way to get a bad arse car for my budget.

Build on good sir...

Thank you for the link. I had seen it and it's pretty cool.

I'm going 100% on my new build. I am putting up for sale my Cobra tribute, my 2 C4 Corvette Sport Rods, a few space frames that I have for Miata parts to bolt into, and a ton of parts. The sport rod in this build thread is a 1987 with a crossfire engine and automatic. The frame is being redone in the rear. The 2 rear roll bar braces are being removed and reinstalled in an X configuration. The whole thing will be welded and then it will be sold. The price for it is $2300. A full cage can be added at this point and different radiator mounted if someone wanted that done.

I have a second C4 that has been stripped in preparation for a Sport Rod build. This one doesn't have an engine/trans. They were removed. But, it is a manual car and has the shifter and has the desirable Dana 44 rear end. It also has some decent 9.5 by 17 inch aftermarket wheels. I'ld sell it for $2000 as is or $3300 with the Sport Rod roll bar and frame work.
