Well i found what i believe to be a better deal over all on a challenge car today. Went and struck a deal i couldn't refuse. In doing so i will no longer be building my mustang but my new car.

A 1987 FC Rx7. And its loaded.

Its a roller but has coil overs. Ls mounts. Good wheels. A cage, a return fuel system. Its gutted. Has a race seat. Quick disconnect wheel and even some lexan glass. This is the exact raw form of a car i can rip ive been looking for. Ls drivetrain i have will be going into this car and i am very excited to see how it performs.

Lemme know if you have any questions.  I have been racing one of these for over 10 years with various engine swaps (never a v8 though).

I got chassis info and setup info.

That will most likely have the na rear end under it which will probably survive the challenge, but slicks and horsepower have been known to blow them up!  A tii rear end is a nice upgrade, but still not bulletproof and can be $$$.  There is a kit from ronin that puts in a Ford 8.8 and maintains the irs.

You could probably do that rear end cheaper if you fabricate the mounts and get the 8.8 for cheap.

Look forward to seeing your progress on this. I'll probably have mine done by the 2030 challenge.

Good to know! i mind bend your ear lol. I do know the rear end can be an issue however this one does at least have the turbo rear end. I have looked into putting in the 8.8 chunk as i have one from an explorer i got from the junkyard for dirt cheap. watched a video and looked at the parts required and its nothing i cant make myself. for now the goal will be to get the car together and running and slowly add power and see how it does in testing. if i feel comfortable with it, i may leave as is and pray it holds together for the challenge. that ebing said, i do want to run some good times in the drag portion, and the car will be capabale of 600+whp. so there is a chance i may need to have a plan in place.
