Knocked a few things out that you can’t really see, had to make clearance on the frame for the header, finally tightened the balancer bolt, bent that piece of angle iron.
I think I got the wiring sorted at least for the battery and starter, cut off switch is on the way and will be installed on the back side of the passenger side a pillar
A good goal would probably be to start it up this month
Saw some cool planes

Think I sort of figured out the dash, steering column is kind of messed up so I think I’ll be putting a new one in
These are the switches I’m going to use, the a pillar is to pass tech and the one in the middle is for me
The bypass housing is set up correctly, was able to circulate some oil through the system, still need to flush out the cooler, haven’t ran oil into the motor yet

Anyone have suggestions for a racing seat? Kirkey 88 series seems interesting
edit: 45 series looks decent also. I’d like to adjust a little more lay back into the seat if needed and these seem to allow it
I got sized for a butlerbuilt, but they are a few months out and not very cheap
ultra shield makes a nice halo also but again they are a few months out

I have one of these in my circle track car:

Decently comfy, very nice and durable cover, reasonable price (for a containment style seat at least). Shows in stock. Would recommend.

I’m thinking I need 17”. My main concern is I’m 6’2 and I’m pretty tall while seated, only a 32” inseam

Talked to a couple places, looks like I’ll need a custom seat with how tall my torso is. My main concern is height, don’t want my head sticking above the roll cage
Ultrashield seems pretty friendly and so does butlerbuilt. Though butler built is about 10-12 weeks out.

Expensive day, but the other brands weren’t really comparable
I am going to try and incorporate the seat mount in between the joint of the seat and headrest to raise it a little bit also. Will help with the seatbelt holes. Might need to modify the lay back angle a little also

More holes getting cut in the floor. Need to trim transmission tunnel so I guess that means I need to install the transmission and make sure everything clears. Need to cut out the old seat mounts, steering column mount, maybe the cross bar behind the seat, lots of grinding in my future

Assumed the car was square when I made this, not lined up, my fault, might just put a heavy washer in there and call it good
Cut one of the old seat brackets off, seat belt mounts next. My seat is probably two inches right of where they had it. Not sure how I’ll mount the seat belts myself
Ordered some more 36 grit flapper wheels, only 2$ at Roark supply vs $9 at Lowe’s, hopefully 10 will do it
ordered the weld on butler built mount kit for the top, hope it works

Here’s how the bottom mounts turned out, essentially everything is wedged in between the two pieces, hopefully this is strong enough. Need to figure out seat belts and cut and grind a lot of stuff, the like steering column mount, and old seat belt mounts along with some other stuff
Was hardest to get the angle right and position. Top of my head with a helmet on is maybe an 1/8” lower than the cage, I would like to be lower but I don’t think I really can

99% sure this won’t fit in the transmission tunnel

Thanks, been a lot of labor involved with it
Think I can use the existing steering column mount, a little ugly but I’m going to mount the holley digital dash in front of it anyways. There’s crap welded on the back side so I couldn’t use the Woodward dmpunts
also made a little extra room moving the shifter forward
What’s that finished interior pic from?

St Pete Grand Prix, an Audi, bad pic but they had their switches in front of the shifter area, think I’ll try to do that with mine
What class do you plan on racing in?
Would probably be pretty easy to race in NASA SU. I crewed for an SU guy for a while; there was an old dirt late model that had been converted to a psuedo-road race spec that ran in SU. Was faster than it looked, that's for sure.
Regardless, OP, might be a good idea to get that figured out sooner rather than later, some of the tech inspection things may impact decisions you're making now. Like, for example, NASA won't accept harness mounts that are integrated to the seat mount. It makes sense on a stock car to do it that way, because that's how the seat is designed, but by the letter it wouldn't pass.
In reply to unevolved :
What not SCCA GT1 or GT2, are these cars not competitive/legal?
Have you scaled the car yet? I talked to another guy that raced a old race car and he changed the bodywork and took the lead out and got his car down to 2500lbs including 215 pound driver.
