Local guy had this for sale.
I am smitten. I love Toyotas and this is about the mostest Toyota-est vehicle I can think of.
I am not sure that I'm worthy of owning such a vehicle. The truck came with three manila folders full of history since day 1, right down to the salesman's business card. It was bought new in Austin Texas. This model is not equipped with the rust that afflicts so many of these trucks, because, Texas. The previous owner adored this truck and it shows in the receipts he gave me. New batteries from Toyota. New windshield from Toyota. Old Man Emu suspension. Tens of thousands of dollars lovingly administered to this truck in the last 22 years.
Build thread to follow I'm sure. This is going to be a passionate affair.

Sure looks clean, still jealous over your slammed fullsize.

Funny you mention that. With this truck taking up a parking space, the Silverado will be first one cut from the team. This Toyota is grail to me. I wanted a Cruiser since FJ40s roamed the earth.
Congrats
from one toyota guy to another. We still have our 80 series bought new in the family. Brothers 17 year old has it. 617,000 miles when I saw it last year in thanksgiving
hope you get some new wheels soon!

First question I asked the previous owner was if he still had the OEM wheels. He did not.
Cheap cast wheels from Discount Tire aren't my choice. I'll find something better. I may pick up some pull off 4Runner wheels for cheap. These are 17s and the tires brand new, 10 ply. I really would like to turn up a set of 17" OEM wheels.

Any chance of seeing the silverado wheels on the cruiser? Just curious how it would look. Should be same bolt patrern. Hub may not fit.
Either way, sweet cruiser.
Man, that thing is clean. I haven't seen one that clean, ever. Ohio is not kind to them.
I adore these, makes me miss mine.

Looks good. Those wheels wouldn't be my first choice either, but I've definitely seen a lot worse.

Beautiful! I have always loved FJ80's. I miss my FJ60 everytime I see one rolling around town.
My brother-in-law has two of these that he uses for work (he owns a company that stripes roads). one has over 800K on the original engine. the other is in the 600s, also on the original engine.
That thing is pretty. If you ever want to cash in and retire just bring it to Denver and put it up for sale. They're high-dollar up here.
I did not dig the cheap Chinese wheels on the truck. No reason I can justify.
I added a roof rack.
I did a vinyl insert on the hood to cover up damaged clearcoat.
I reasealed the upper and lower oil pans. That wasn't as much fun as you might imagine.
Lots of little details here and there which I can't remeber.
This thing draws a crowd wherever I park it.
Missed this the first time around. That thing is sharp and the wheel change makes it even better.
that thing looks real clean, makes me miss my FJ80. even with stock suspension and meaty tires it was a blast. also the worst mpg i've ever gotten in any vehicle, 12-13 straight highway was my record, but i also had the old 3FE engine so it wasn't exactly efficient.

One thing to check is the PHH (Pesky Heater Hose) and see if it's been replaced, if not, go ahead and do it as preventative maintenance - there's a write up over on i h 8 mud forum along with someone selling a kit with a higher quality hose and clamps
Otherwise, drive the hell out of it - had 360,000 mile on my FJ80 before I sold it, now have a 2015 200 series which I expect to take to 500,000 miles

Meet Lando Cruserisian:
Other than a few little maintenance items that I have done for fun, nothing has changed. I drive it daily.
I did put a nice snorkel on it, for added mall crawler points.
In reply to Cousin_Eddie :
Glad to hear from you, we've missed you around here!
In reply to Pete Gossett :
Thank you. That's very flattering, I went through a few months of downsizing, selling things, turning my house into a rent house, and buying another house.
