I'm looking to build an enclosure Trailer and I'm not sure what frame I should start with.

I wanna do it on a budget of under $1000 once it's all done.

I've found a couple boat Trailer, popup Trailer, and camper trailers under $200 that I can strip and use. Or get an axle off a fwd or buy a trailer axle and build a frame.

What does everyone else think? What would be the best cost and easiest way to start. I'm good with frame fabrication so that's not an issue.

i have used old camper trailer frames before, the body had rotted away but the frames were sold, electric brakes and two axles.

I won't need tandem axles. And trying to stay under gvwr of 3000lb due to tow rig. Max size 6x12

If it helps at all, I have a 5X8 Pace American cargo trailer.

The whole trailer above the floor is made from various 16ga "C's", "Z's" and angles with bent 1" square to make the roof rails. If I were going to try to copy it, I'd probably just use 1-1/2" 16ga square and have some 1" square bent for the roof.

Really though, with some patience you can probably find a trailer ready to roll for $1000

Yea but the one I found is 4x8x5 who makes a trailer that big but only 5ft tall... so he could put a ladder on it and park it in his garage...

I've got a couple leads on some popups for 100-150$ and a 21.5ft camper for $100 (pending sale to someone else but I hve 2nd dibs). I'd really like the 21.5 so I can cut down the frame, keeps the brakes and just run a Single axle. I'd even thought of gutting it completely and lighten it up a bit they make a rear door. Then call it a day. I'd just be concerned on weight.
