Man yours looks like it's in great shape compared to mine. Mine certainly lived the kid life for the years before I owned it. We did get to see the previous owner commentating on an NFL game last weekend. That was kind of cool, but I'd trade it in a second for a few less dings.

Oh mine is dinged up. She’s a 20ft beauty.  Up close her age shoes.  Full of chips, nicks, and dings. I’m going to fill many of them with touch up and then wet sand to blend and compound the car. If I’m not happy then just go ahead with a repaint at some point.

i just need this front air strut and engine mount issue fixed ASAP. The car clunks horrible over bumps and potholes.

Agh, you still have the protective plastic on the chrome trim at 125k miles!

Yeah how about that? Pretty crazy right? I tried picking it off but it’s been on there 11 years or so and will need goof off to get it off.  Not sure I should mess with it.

Any opinion from the community?

It's been there this long...

God that looks good in black. Interested to see if the 1:1 bolt swap is possible.

Got my star service manual today and with a 4 point motor support frame it looks like the mount swap is s piece of cake. Removing undertray and catalytic converters and then the mounts attached to support brackets.

Reassemble with new mounts and reverse order.

Couple fun discoveries on a 10 year old car.

troubleshooting why the proximity key and push to start wasn’t working. I got the ICarsoft MB2 and ran doagnostics. This car has a lot of faults. Figures. I don’t have a great track record in believing people like the previous owner.

tons of undervolts that I assume are battery related. Many of them noted undervolts on terminal 30 which I think is the main battery.

rear SAM signal actuation module not sending signal. Can BUS errors. Booooooo

well I figured out why the keyless go module was not sending info.

those are the connectors laying unconnected in the spare wheel well. Looks like somebody had a leak at some point, which isn’t uncommon on these r classes, and just pulled the corroded module out and trashed it. Perfect.

Ordered a used module from Lithuania. Part is discontinued by Mercedes. Ordered a junk yard cut out module from a 2008 that the just cut the harnesses so all connectors are there.

Will rebuild connectors in my car using donors and then hook up original part number keyless go. There goes another couple hundred bucks.

Seth did you use the ICarsoft MB 2 before? Wondering if I change battery and pull fault codes if the pertinent ones will be turned off or if I have to clear fault codes and see if they return.

I had to reset all of them when my battery died when it sat. Remember the backup battery too.

Edit to expand now that I'm at a computer. When the battery died on mine it set a billion low voltage codes. Replacing the battery didn't clear them and while I was in there I found a whole bunch of random (god I hope they were random) codes. I cleared them all as part of bringing things back online and the only ones that came back were the AC ones leading me to fix the AC.
Replacing the battery isn't hard, but it isn't fun. You need to move the passenger seat back, take out the front bolts, move it all the way forward and up, take out the back bolts, and then prop it up so you can get the carpet and panel out of the way. Holding the cables out of the way while you put the battery back in is a little frustrating too. I think I daisy chained zip ties to hold them back. There is also a backup battery that exists primarily to always have enough juice to put the transmission into park in the event of an emergency. I gambled that mine would be fine after I replaced the big one, and I won, but you might want to consider replacing them both. The backup battery is in front of the big one and you might have to do some automotive yoga to get it out with the front seat still in the car.

Took the primary battery out and saw that it was produced March of 2015. Clearly it’s newer so I took it in to get tested and they said it’s all good. Back to the drawing board.

Im thinking maybe I clear the faults as they may not have been cleared from when the battery was replaced recently.

boy would that be a relief to see many of the 20 some faults go away.

Unless the last guy had a MB specific scanner, they didn't clear the faults. Go through all the systems, clear everything, and see what comes back.

Heck YEAH! Cleared all the codes. Battery checked out perfectly healthy at autozone. Drive around and all codes are gone besides auxiliary battery that I’m fixing tomorrow. Had to reset panoramic sun roof. It was like Contra, up back down forward all held for 5 seconds, was only missing b-a-select-start!

really excited I was able to get the Bluetooth adapter working for phone, all codes gone, and I fixed the SRS connector correctly so no more red lights on dash.

Next up:

auxillary battery

fog light

oil change

motor mounts

Fog lights are pretty cheap at Rock Auto. Much cheaper than they were from MB when I bought mine.

There's nothing more satisfying than getting a used car and fixed everything that's wrong with it. Seeing error lights turn off and features return is like the best thing ever.

this should be fun. Get to rebuild these salvaged connectors to a my wiring and a new keyless go module from Lithuania. Figures every model year has a specific keyless go module even amongst the same model. This brain cane from a 2008 R350

Just got another chance to open her up on the highway as much of my commuting is secondary roads. This thing is an absolute land cruise missile.  It doesn’t suffer from the pushing a brick down the road problem most SUVs have and it can hold 6 adults. The ultimate autobahn carpool vehicle. How’s that for an oxymoron?

Looks good to me. I don’t believe it was a short interval but don’t know exact mileage but previous owner said it needed an oil change.

i like the comment, really helped me feel better about the possible head bolt issue... for now

It's been nearly two years since the last comment.  DadMoto, do you have any update on your R63?  Did you ever change out the head bolts?
