So to go ahead and bring those out of the know in, Master Race is what PC gamers call their rigs over consoles. It has nothing to do with actual race.
Onward!
I decided to build a new PC as my old gaming rig is running some really jankity parts for this type of thing.
Current Setup:
Donated Antec case with mediocre cooling, blue LEDs, and a plastic window (eck!)
AMD A10 APU
8gb ram
1 TB Harddrive (probably not the fastest rpms, don't remember)
Used GTX570 I bought off a friend last year after trying to do a crossfire setup with the APU and another used AMD card that matched my onboard video.
That is the high lights.
New Build:
AMD FX-8350 with matching MSI 970A Motherboard ($189 after rebate)
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo Processor heat sink ($25 after rebate)
16gb of G.Skill Ram (PC3 17000) ($67)
Fractal Design Define R4 Case, no silly window or LEDs ($70)
Couple 140mm case fans ($14)
EVGA SuperNOVA 750 B2 Power Supply ($57)
EVGA GTX 960 4gb ($215)
Total so far: $637
I have a commercial copy of Win 7 which should get a free upgrade to Win 10 and I have an old DVD drive laying around that will work for the few disks I plan on using with this system. Build is coming but Frys.com took forever (in the world of Amazon 2 day shipping) to send my processor and mobo so I won't be able to start this until next Tuesday.
I run Win 10 and Win 7. If you don't need to, DO NOT upgrade to Win 10, stay with Win 7. Apparently Win 10 has issues with privacy, so I suggest that if you go to Win 10, be exceedingly dilligent about the settings on what is sent to Microshaft.
I would also say as a 960 owner, you might be better off with a 970, I got my this spring, already contemplating bumping up to a 970 or 80
Well, I already have the 960 on the way and I couldn't justify the $115 minimum bump. I am on a budget and have already over spent. There will be time to upgrade later.

Microshaft? They give you windows 10 for free. What more do you want.
Windows 10 is amazing. Do not not upgrade because of privacy concerns. If you have concerns, read this and then things off.

It's been blown out of proportion for what it really is. But upgrade.
Add a ssd to the list. 14 second boots are amazing. Do that with your windows 7.

Well, I am happy to assist in learning if you like. . Also, Gameboy appears to be the resident expert.
Got started tonight on what I have. Hard drive and power supply mounted. Case thoroughly prodded. This is one swanky case. All the panels have a weighted foam to keep noise down. There are three settings for can speed, controlled from the front panel. There are these awesome rubber pass throughs that help manage cables. Progress pictures to come.
