This is cool! These cars are basically forgotten footnotes for most people, except us weirdos. I'll be following this!
When I was a kid my neighbors across the street had 4 kids all of whom were near my age. The parents bought a slightly used Citation V6 4 door for the kids to share.
That car was mercilessly beaten across a span of many years and held up remarkably well to the wear and tear. Impressive.
Given that experience, I have to thinking racing would be a piece of cake for one.
We had a real, live X-11 in my dorm parking lot senior year. I never met the owner.
A year later, I got a job selling race car parts nearby at Automod. Turns out the parents of the X-11’s owner also owned Automod. (I still never met the kid who owned the car.)

I had a Cavalier in 1985 and spent the next three years searching for a set of ^those wheels, which I always thought looked a lot cooler than the Z24 alloys.
There was a very similar wheel that was optional on the Celebrity Eurosports, but the bolt pattern was larger.
This should be good fun. I often think a good, fairly cheap hot rod project would one of these old special edition chevy or ford cars, then take it one step farther.
Some were more than just added decals, some had some good improvements. Sadly some of these have gotten to expensive, like the cosworth vega.
One nice thing about these cars, most of the car is the same as the base model, so some repairs are fairly simple, rust or dent repair, they made a bunch or the base model. Of course many of these factory hot rods are now getting old so even base model stuff, but better than some other rare stuff.
How hard would it be to get rid of some weight, don't need the back seat, most have a flat back window, so replace back window with plastic. Seats back were not great, but better, lighter, fairly cheap seats are now available. Then free up the exhaust. A few fairly simple projects, and you would have a really fun hot rod.
