I changed my screen name, I used to be known as trx450r1989. I once owned a nice RS2.5 and a swapped ej20g Brighton. I have since sold both of them and bought a mini. Not going to lie, the mini is an awesome daily driver but that Subaru bug didn't stop. I didn't want to take the mini to track days due to having no way to get to work if I ended up in a wall.

I have been shopping for a cheap Subaru for awhile and one popped up. It was a 1995 Impreza L for 500 dollars. Runs and drives. I could not believe how nice this Subaru was. It was a 1.8L with 235xxx miles but has been taken care of. The oil was cleaner then my minis oil haha. There is some crazy amount of rust on the rear quarter panel but thats pretty much it. The car has been sitting at this guys shop for 2 years and he had no history on the car. The title is clean and signed over to him. He charged the battery for me and I drove it home. I drove it over an hour home no problems. The longer I drove it the better the motor reacted. There was a scary shacking around 65mph, an exhaust leak, the rotors are shot and one tire is dry rotted but it made it home.

This car is going to become a track day/ AutoX/ Grand touring car. My plan is 2500 pounds and around 300-350 horsepower.

Now since I am closing on a house January 29th and having a wedding November 5th. This will be a very slow build. I will update everything I do and have some write ups during the build.

Sea foam green O yea :drunk:. Ugh so ugly. The Subaru was toed behind an RV Cross Country. Each post I will post the weight of the car and Price. This is the base line of the car. I get the weight of all the parts online or weighing it from a scale.

Price-0 Weight 2605

Reseat Removed

Rear seat weight -20 pounds Cost- Free

Price-0 Weight 2585

Rear seat came out and a bunch of love stains. I ended up tossing it because it was to far from selling.

If someone wants me to do a how to remove the rear seat let me know.

I need to post pictures of my old cars and the mini. Had a left over fuel filter from my last car. I sanded and painted the bracket and installed it.

Now I have alot of ideas on what motor I want to run. The one I am leaning towards the most right now is a

ej22e or ej22T Block 25D, wrx or sit heads, intake and everything else ECU Port and polish rebuild the bottom end but keep the stock crack and rods Through some kind of turbo pistons. Turbo I have no idea yet. Didn't do enough research.

tuning wise I am not sure what yet. Not sure one what transmission I want to run.

Removed the front tow hitch. While I was there I trimmed the bumper support. Took around 20 pounds off the support. I am cleaning everything I take off too.

Price-0 2586-20= 2565 The new weight of the car.

Good looking car! I love the colour, I don't care what anyone says.

I think the EJ22T is a little overrated considering how hard it is to find, but if you've already found one, it should be a decent starting point.

That bottom end plus AVCS heads should be pretty interesting.

Nice and crusty!

I have a '97 Impreza Brighton Coupe 2.2, 5 mt that is semi-permanent garage art. It starts and idles perfectly and will rev if you slowly tip into the throttle and don't go beyond about 20% but if you floor it, it bogs and pops through the intake. I think it may be the TPS, but I haven't messed with it.

I should do that.

yea I agree with you, most time the 22t is over rated but I found a deal that is to good to pass up. I was going to just build the 22E block but hell for little more money I can get the 22T block.

ahh dont fix it just do a sti swap

You have a doppleganger to a friends car that I was helping on. Hopefully his will be up and running this year, it might give you some inspiration.

STI block with wrx heads, 14:1 CR and Booooost running on E85, Car will not have an interior.

Stripping it was halirous, we pulled it in a garage complete/running with the AC even working and it was completely stripped (totally bare chassis) within 4-5 hours as I recall.

The picture did not work but why is he running so much compression?

The whole car is going to gutted and caged. My plan is not to have a crazy amount of power but to be light and stiff. I can't wait till I make my mind up on what suspension I want to run. I love tuning suspension. I am weird like that. There will not be any real updates till next month. I am moving to my first house (2 car garage) and whatever I take off the car will have to be moved. I just have to fix the bumper. The last owner rigged up the bumper pretty bad.

RE bumper, the JDM bumper beam is MUCH lighter and worth doing. only real change safety wise is in impacts under 5mph-ish as over that speed you are bending sheet metal and not the bumper beam. (seriously, there is a 20+lb difference)

As far as why the compression... Its an auto-x car (running a mustang bolt pattern 17x10 (or was it 11?) wheels and 315 A6's at one point) the higher compression is to give better response and low end power and not have to rely on the turbo spooling up as much. they are able to get away with it because of the E85 (effectively a much higher octane, something like 105, and it runs much cooler). The compression was accomplished with Weisco pistons.

I do plan on going to the JDM bumper but for now I just trimmed it. Small update just bought an antenna delete plate. I know it is very small but this whole closing on a house E36 M3 just keeps on getting more expensive. Also I am torn between a phase 2 2.2 or a 2.2T block. I know the T block is better all the way around but I think it is over kill for what I am using it for. As soon as this snow melts a little I will be heading to the junk yard to pull a new hood and new drive side fender and what ever else I can get into too.

The thing I can not make mind on is the LGT 2.5 brakes or the wrx 4/2 pot. Ugh tough one.

So I am in my new house and can't wait to get the project car over here to really tear into it. I have since then deleted the antenna. I am not going to have a radio in the car. I also order a sparco steering wheel adapter for my OMP steering wheel and some kart boy Sub frame bolts. Will have photos later.

Hey everyone!! I am back. Bought the house and holy crap there is still so much to be done. I do have some updates on the car and also the garage.

First off the garage. The dumbass put tons of gravel on the floor to make it look better. So I have been shoveling out the garage. I am more then half way done now. At least its a two car garage. There is so much I want to do to the garage. I will post the the cool stuff I end up doing to it.

In the mean time I did buy some parts for the car.

I bought a Sparco steering wheel adaptor which is awesome. Do not buy the ebay junk. what a waste of money. I also bought Kart Boy subframe bolts. Do not have pictures of these items yet.

I bought a RS2.5 hood for next to nothing. The hood is only 1 year old too

Grime speed antenna delete. I do not have the extra weight savings yet. But I will soon.

buying a ej255 for 150 bucks. I plan on using this motor in the swap. Going to rebuilt it and go from there. Motor should be okay didn't expect it yet.

Also picked up a wrx pedal assembly for 15 dollars.

the car has not been worked on much since I bought the house. I am going to add my other post I have up for this.

I bought some other little parts but just need more time in my life. Also bought a new DD legacy GT2.5 2005. Love the car.
