Pretty much all of my car was Texas Performance stuff.  With the exception of their motor mounts, everything worked well.  They redesigned the motor mounts 3 times while I had my car and I can't fault their support, they always sent me their latest design when the old stuff failed.

Just a word to the wise-  Renegade Hybrids has a pretty well-deserved reputation of selling poorly-made, ill-fitting parts with terrible customer service...  I know it's probably too late, but there are multiple horror stories, some even on this board... myself included.  I'll give them a pass on my experience because it was 10+ years ago, but I know there are others...

Thanks.

That was fast.  It has a powered antenna switch cable so I'm hoping the antenna goes up.

How do you clean wheels?

Also, unlike the story we got from the seller, they are in fact replicas.

Had trouble breaking the caliper bolts loose, so we uh.. just dropped all of it out including the struts

Today Todd ordered the ls3 (ls376/525) crate motor and engine control unit.

So, we are uh, moving along.

Good times.

I buy radios and he buys motors, seems fair, right?

Also Todd bought a higher milage 1988 Turbo transmission with an LSD.  We will refresh it and put 5th out of our transmission in it.

I made progress on the rear window scraping off the old tint.

Razer blade in a scraper handle works best. I've used spray glass cleaner and am down to just the stubborn glue spots.

Is there anyway to remove the defroster strips?

Progress is made one baby step at a time.

During lunch today I got the Exhaust hangers and heat shields out.  I also got the shifter out.  there was no C clip on the shifter connector, lol.

More baby steps

I got the passenger side Axel/CV stuff out, it was all 13mm bolts.   I haven't gotten the driver side out yet as the part of the CV joint that attaches to the hub is Torx head, and they are all stripped.

We also go most of the brake stuff pulled off.

Another baby step, got the shift linkage out.

And then a pretty big step, I got the transaxel out, by my self, lol.

The one with the LSD will also get a new coupler, this one is pretty ratty.

There is no provision for a third, top mount for the transaxle.  We might be able to do some cutting from above to get to the cross member that appears to be wielded in place on the chassis.  If we can get to it from the top side, we might be able to drill the holes necessary for the third top mount.

50 year old tools for the win!  I used a set of "EZ outs" from back in the day to get the stripped torx head bolts off the last cv joint. axelshaft.

I needed a 17mm Alen head (hex) to get the drain plugs out of the transaxle, I didn't have one, but Autozone did.  When I got there I saw that for just a $1 more I could get 3 large Alen hex head sockets, all sizes I didn't have.

Good times.

And of all the crap that has literally come out of this car, the gear oil looked to be brand new.  Maybe it was the last thing that could be serviced without a fight.

In reply to EricM :

From a ford mustang or a bmw?  If from the mustang, get the adapter from Texas performance so you can run the stock 944 master cylinder.  Otherwise the brake bias will be WAY wrong

You've probably figured this out by now, but those axle bolts (and a bunch of other random hardware on a 944) are "triple square" or "cheesehead", not torx, and are obviously very easily stripped, especially if someone tries to remove them using a torx socket....
