The 4L80E has a taller first gear than the 4L60E, which I believe has a 3.06:1 first gear.

That was quick.
Three experienced guys, a full toolbox, great familiarity and clean parts. Amazing how much it didn't suck. Still sucked, but not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Was able to not even disconnect the cooler lines!
114 miles today
1 mile.from home, cel and 2000rpm high idle and hard shifts. I think the tps died. Ill hook the computer up in the morning and see whats up.
And, fixed itself overnight.
My GUESS is a failing tps sensor or connector, in the combination of heat and light rain it went stupid.
Hooking up the computer and watching live data, i see nothing out of line with what I would expect from the sensor data and response.

Surely it's waiting until you have to be somewhere for something important to act up again, lol. That's how it goes for me anyway
tomorrow should be tire day!!!!!
Four cooper discoverer ht3's. Four eagle alloy 206s. Four stainless steel screws. Four nos impala center caps.
Im excited.

It's like an ugly baby. Once the parents show you the ugly baby so many times you just give in and say yeah all babies are cute.
Where did you get the headers and ypipe? I want to do headers on my vortec truck but I can't find anyone that does LTs with their own Y pipe, and don't tell em you fabricated one, I really don't want to.
How big of a difference did they make, I've been told they are a big help on these
In reply to Opti :
Used from furious_e. He fabbed the y pipe.....
As far as difference, I'm not sure. I changed a LOT of variables at the same time. Pcm tune, trans gearing, torque converter stall speed, headers, exhaust, cat. Lots of changes.
However, overall it feels much stronger than my red truck, which had open air cleaner, underdrive pullies, etc. So, i think it'd be worth it. And the hedman headers fit nice!
Stampie and 759: i like my ugly babies, and will spring pictures on all my unsuspecting friends! Hahahahahhaha!!!! (In mad scientist style)

I'm liking those wheels the more I see them.
I saw a set of Centerline Galaxy 2 wheels for sale locally today, and I can say Dusterbd13's wheels are downright tasteful compared to them . Sadly, I missed out on the 5x4.75 version of his wheels, someone snagged them before I got a chance.
y'all check out my ugly baby!!!!
Honestly, it looks way better than I expected. Needs a red pinstripe down the upper body line. And my mudflaps. And a diesel bumper, air dam, hella lights, billet grill.....
In reply to Dusterbd13-michael (Forum Supporter) :
Looks good. I like the polish contrast with the black.
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Same! Which is why i did it again.....
I kinda miss the elky, but less now than i did with the stepside.
First the truck looks awesome, second I am wildly impressed with your speed of getting things done. Nice work.
The wheels are perfect, well done. The red pinstripe would definitely be a nice accent. If I weren't woefully out of practice I'd talk you into driving out this way and I'd hand stripe it.
That truck speaks to me in a very "My highschool years were in the 90's, in the Midwest" way. Looks great.
I kind of like the grill the way it is. Otherwise your list sounds pretty great.
Whoa whoa whoa!!!!!!!.............the Elky Hoops are the BOMB!!!!! where are they know!!!!???? Sorry Bro yur sled,,, carry on looks way cool.....late
In reply to 759NRNG (Forum Partidario) :
They were damaged when ig was totalled, and went with the hulk. Theywere staggered centerline scorpions from Patrick.
Pres: same. I really cant go wrong either way. And as a 90s kid myself, its just "right" from a visual standpoint.
Jtw8: you wouldn't have to talk too hard!

Wow, it looks great!
What's a diesel bumper? Not familiar.
I'd recommend avoiding the billet grill. Sure, it is period correct but I think the amazement here is the near stock condition. Like the Elky, little body flash other than the projector beams but otherwise the chrome is all clean.
If you were to add the billet grille and go overboard on the period correct mods you'd need a bug shield and a top of windshield visor. Then at the bottom of windshield, a fairing over the wiper blades. Speaking of wiper blades where would you now find the period correct triple blade wipers? Is APC still around?
In reply to John Welsh :
God, the nostalgia trip you just sent me on with the wipers.....
Diesel bumper is the one with the two rectangular holes in the middle where the license plate would go up front. Also used on tahoe limited with fog lights built in (hence my hella idea).
air dam is stock piece, and already in route.
As far as mudflaps and grille, just like Marys red truck is my thought .ill post a picture
