I thought I would start a build thread for the car I picked up last week from here on the forum.
Previous owner threads are here and here. BlueInGreen44 was generous enough to cut me a killer deal on the car. I decided to continue to call her Elsa (its too hard to teach her a new name anyway).
My wife and I want to build the next car in the background while we continue to race the Integra. We wanted to go with RWD, a known reliable platform and good upgrade options. I had it narrowed down to an E36 or SC300. However BlueInGreen44's car popped up and made the decision a little easier.
The situation is slightly complicated by the fact I am moving from Michigan to PA (if I can ever sell my MI house ) so I don't really NEED another car right now. As it is I am moving the Chump Integra, my Shaggin' Wagon GMC van, my company car, my wife's Ram 3500 and her Civic. So what is one more, right? (spoken like the addict I am)
Before gutting it I want to replace the suspension bushings and do some general maintenance to the car. I'm realistically looking at next year before I really tear into it. I hope to take it out for a couple track days before it gets too far along. The biggest plan is this will be the first car I cage myself.
This will be a long and slow build.
But enough reading, here are pictures of how she sits today.
My wife hamming it up on her first drive of the car.
We live on a dirt road and she was Duke Boy-ing it up out of the driveway.
Have fun with it. It's funny how the ugly paint doesn't show in pictures.

Clear coat is overrated
For some reason that thing just looks awesome with steelies.

Doesn't it though? If I ever end up owning another one it will get the same wheel treatment.
Its a boring update, but its better than no update.
Over the last 2 weekends we made mad dash 11 hour each way runs from Michigan to PA to move some of the cars. Last weekend was the Integra and this weekend was Elsa's turn.
Here she is loaded up Friday night.
Here is the new garage. Its smaller than what I had in MI but the previous owner left that sweet Thomas Kinkade style poster on the wall . Each car is packed full of "garage stuff" I have to find places for and there is more coming.
Remember the O.E. 15" wheels I mentioned? I finally got the snow tires off 'em so they're yours for the having. If you'll eventually want them I'll put them in the back of the garage until I can get them to you or you can get them from me. If you won't want the wheels I'll see if someone on craigslist wants them. They're nice, light, and strong. Only bad thing is the BMW "roundels" have worn off the centers. Or maybe that's a good thing

Awesome!
I will send you a text.
Random question of no importance. Did you ever figure out if this car has a limited slip? I can't remember if it does... Just curious, I was thinking about that for some reason while wrenching on the 318ti.
Looking forward to the eventual day the racecar build starts!
In reply to BlueInGreen44:
No, I have yet to look. I would be surprised if it has one because my understanding is it is a pretty rare feature in a 318.
Right now the car is sitting in the garage where the Chumpcar is in the picture above. What fun time I have has been directed at getting the Integra ready for the race in May.

I understand the winter sucks in MI and PA, but with a sweet garage mural like that I would expect some updates from the build!
(mostly kidding, my e36 project has been sitting for a year)

The previous owners of the new house in Pennsylvania LOVED the decoration crap you can buy at Cabela's. The garage windows have matching little curtains across the top. There is a jacket hook that looks like a dog's tail. Stuff like that is all through the house. The bathroom has teddy bear wallpaper border!
Summer plans include getting some sort of flooring down and replacing the mural with one of a Viking and a half nekid chick.
To make it worse, that poster is glued to the wall and it looks like the drywall will get damaged removing it.
