Idk, "incidental" sure sounds wide open to interpretation, and you did quite a suspension mod back there. It's also just a provisional class and literally no one will call you out. I still don't have a heater because I can't fathom any more heat in that interior. If the goal is to have fun with cars, big whoop if you lose some plastic trophy points at the end of the season. Or at least that's how I see it.

The Indy guys have a regional supplemental(SMS) which is no-holds-barred on 200tw tires, and well populated. I will play there for now when I run with them. XS and EM are both generally single car classes at Walesboro, so it makes no difference there.

I was hoping to run the DSM in XS too, but there's no one locally running it here either, so I've just run XP to have some other cars/drivers to benchmark against.
Radial tire construction definitely has potential.

Aug 30th. I am planning to be there; weather dependent as always with this truck.
Gonna try adding some neg camber in the front to see if I can improve mid-corner stiction. The bias plys didn't want much, but radials will be happier with more I think.

Beginning numbers: -1.5/-1.2(??) camber, 1/8" toe-out
-1.5 was expected, the -1.2 on the left was odd. Going for more with radials anyhow, so it's moot at this point.
End numbers: -2.1 camber, 1/4" toe-out
This much toe may be too aggressive but that's where it fell with no adjustment after setting the camber, and I'm not street driving it so I'll see how it behaves on Sunday.

Adding yellow R's definitely harkens to the SN95 Saleen cars. My black/white/yellow is no mere coincidence either. Saleen ran Rangers in the SCCA RaceTruck Challenge series, and they had black/white/yellow livery.
If I ever get around to paint, a Saleen style livery is high on the probability list.
I tidied up this old thread a bit and have removed the accumulated shop things from the shelf, I mean truck, which is the main focus. I haven't autoX'd it in a year and a half and it is disgustingly filthy. I am still struggling with some SCCA burnout but I love the truck and it makes me happy.
First step was an air hose. Then I wiped the entire truck inside and out with a dirty shop rag.
Check the battery. Dead of course, so pull that out.
Oil is changed. Spark plugs next. With a new battery and some fresh fuel, I hope to refire the engine this weekend. The big change is going to be tires. A set of Valinos were part of the spoils from Challenge victory. I chose some 200tw 315's to put on the 18's I bought a couple years ago. You may recognize the wheels from a certain Challenge Avalon.
The original intent behind purchasing the 18" wheels was to facilitate a class change involving the BroncoII body and moving into CAM/XS legal trim. It was a knee jerk reaction to the (new at that time)XS rules following the CAM language which outlawed my wheelbase modifications back in 2017. As time passed, I returned to the core principles that lead to this truck in the first place. I didn't build for the sake of competing in a class, I built this truck the way I wanted it. Converting it to a B2 body would have made it not my truck anymore. I resold the B2 without ever touching it.
The goal now is to use the truck more, with less labor. Definitely some autoX this year; I am targeting an event on the 26th.
Drag strip test-n-tune nights? Maybe. Getting a windshield in it would be a big step toward possible street use....we'll see. I just want to have fun with it instead of staring at it in my shop.

Its a Torsion bar, sometimes still called a sway bar. Can get parts to build a setup from just about any circle track store.

I remember looking over that truck in person and said "torsion bar swaybar?" then my mind said oh wow that's cool.
Isn't every swaybar a torsion bar? Lolz.
I do like this style of bar and see the appeal of the simple adjustment and simple to change out the geometry for a stiffer or weaker bar.

Steering was heavy in abrupt transitions, found assist knob set lower than normal, adjusted on run4
Truck got very loose in the last two runs. These tires may not want any rear sta-bar on asphalt.

Another year nearly gone in this thread, and the truck only made it out for two autoX events last season. Bad Decision™ in progress....
There are musings that I may not have full access to my fun car this summer, and I don't autoX enough to truly justify this truck's dedication to that purpose anymore, so it's time to do something about the situation.
The VIN is still on the truck, and I have the title. I'm going to put this truck back on the street.
All my other projects are lowered and stiffly suspended. These fenders are already flared. 🤷♂️ The 28" slicks were the largest loose wheels and tires I could put my hands on in the shop today. I will have some 245/65-17's mounted on a set of wheels tomorrow for future mock-ups and fitting.
Moving the 7" rear shocks to the front and using a set of 12" springs lying around, I found an interference with 2.5" diameter coils and the limit of the upper balljoint.
I may or may not dive into extending the front control arms in this first go round. There is a 1" spacer behind these 10" wide wheels. Factoring the width and offset difference to the 17's I will be using, I could easily add 3" per side of the front suspension to better match the rear track.
I snagged a pair of 9" shocks off eBay for the rear; same brand as my current units. The rear suspension droops without bind until the CVs lock out. Whatever height I can manage in the front should be easy to achieve out back.
I have a local source for a Lexan windshield. Lights and signals will need to be wired up.
This should be plenty fun to bomb around with...
