Fabricobble American Racing Team, a subsidiary of Wing-It Engineering, would like to officially announce on the hallowed pages of this GRM forum it's intention to field it's first Challenge build.
SVE across the Pond produced the MK3 Fiesta RS Turbo .... (build inspiration)
Imagine if at the same time period, which is the infancy of SVT, SVT Produced a Fastiva RS Turbo .....
If you squint a little....my Fastiva could resemble the Fiesta RS Turbo....
Goals:
1) Get it running again because my youngest son wants to learn to drive a standard transmission (Save the manuals!!)
2) Have fun because delusions of winning are just that.
3) How much power will a high mileage B3 make with a chinesium TD03 turbo? Let's find out!
4) In the spirit of fabricobble, use crappy tools and elbow grease on the build! No high dollar stuff in my garage ....
5) Attend some future Challenge as I/we are quite good at missing timeline targets and are also doing the Europa TCSTurbo restoration https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/build-projects-and-project-cars/europa-tcst-turbo/196488/page1/
Budget:
Fastiva FMV is $250 https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/2000-challenge/fastiva-fmv/254503/page1/
Spoiler FMV is $20 https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/2000-challenge/spoiler-fmv-request/255773/page1/
$1730 left to spend
Let the fun begin!!
AngryCorvair...Shifty Fabricobble has agreed to supervise ........
In reply to TurboFource :
Yessss!!!!
I thought about doing a rear engined BEC as I have a CBR1000R motor in the garage, It would sound really cool but be basically unusable as a real car.....
In reply to TurboFource :
Well, I can strongly recommend a cbr motor in the back.
Buuuuuuut, if you decide instead to sell that cbr1000 motor on the cheap, let me know!
A BEC may be in the future after the Europa is done.

This is going to be so much fun.
"Ten Craps Cars That Are Somehow Amazing On Track" ..... Festiva is on that list,
so watch out !
I have managed to wash it and start the build in my head so far.....and bookmark some parts
It's alive ! Not sure how old the gas is but I do remember putting preservative in it awhile ago and a can of Sea Foam about a year and half ago. It wouldn't start on it (poured some fresh gas down PCV hose) but it ran on it well enough to go for a drive :) Ticked quite nicely at first .... calmed down after driving it. I actually miss this thing!
While working on the Lotus today I heard "Shifty" Fabricobble muttering something about if I didn't build him a buddy for the Fastiva he wasn't going to help .... so I guess this project will include a fabricobbled shifter .....
This is " Shifty" in case you haven't met ...

I've wanted to drive one of those for some time. As long as the shifter is crisp I can't see how I wouldn't love it.
Donated clutch showed up today, fellow forum member won't take anything for shipping,
I will include price from UPS shipping calculator as price .... $20.75(ground)
$1709.25 left in budget.
