How hard / how expensive would it be to DIY swap a Fiero GT from auto to manual? This is about halfway down my list of "one of these days" cars, not gonna happen anytime soon, just daydreaming a bit.

Unless the auto is already owned and or somehow special/important it probably is easier to just start with a MT car.  

I don't believe the chassis or anything was fundamentally different so it wouln't be "Difficult" but just a lot of work and parts you would need..

Pedals, Clutch MC, Line, Shifter, Cables, Transmission, Axles, Flywheel, Clutch, Mounts, ECM.

So a MT donor car would help alot.

Although, if you do the swap you can recoup some of the cost with the automatic parts (maybe), but the value of time and energy to do the swap probably outweighs the savings.
