Oh snap.
Keep us updated. I thought this was extremely cool when it first came up, and am eagerly awaiting a chance to watch it tear off into the sunset.

The ECU/immobilizer thing was the exact reason I ditched the factory ECU. I could not find a key and the ECU is not programmable as far as I could tell. I would call Outfront motorsports. They do a lot of Suby based dune buggy builds and seem to have a handle on the electronics.
I can tell you that a MS2 board fits neatly into the factory harness. Just cut out the 3-part connector and solder jumper wires directly to the board. Instant stand-alone using factory wiring. Mine works great in a JDM EJ20TT powered Porsche 914.
This was the most cost effective method to have a running car for me.
A buddy has mentioned a FUBARu project, and has enlisted my assistance in getting this thing goin'.
So I do the "Google" thing to get a little info on 308 GT4s
Guess what pops up but this thread, at the top of the list. Well I begin to read, (I haven't seen the car).
Well, it turns out that this car is the same one in the thread. I'll be going to look at it in person some time tomorrow, and I'm afeered of what I may find.
I haven't read the entire thread, but skimmed through most of it, and will Most likely be harassing you folks for info, and sources over the next year or so.
I'm familiar with early ('20s/'30s) cars, and the modification thereof, but when it comes to European and Japanese (and crosses of the two) I'm kinda lost.
But the project aint ded yet!! :D
Thanx
Shorty
I've considered this project carefully over the past month & realize I'm in over my head with it. My friend Shorty (bluerooster) and I just evaluated it & I'm going to let it go. Too much for us. There are three options: 1. Sell or trade the whole thing as-is. 2. Pull the STi motor & save it for an experimental plane & sell the 308 frame. 3. Part the whole thing out
Anyone interested in taking this over before we tear it down? I really don't want to, so I'm offering it up first. Offers?
Somebody HAS to finish this thing!
My wife always wanted a Ferrari, maybe she will trade her 560SL for it.

Better you than me, I just got rid of a subaru powered mutant car. And yet...I sooo want to do it again!
Don't suppose you'd trade for a Yugo (slightly modified) ;)
I really want this car. My wife told me to buy it and put in storage until I have the space to work on it. I just can't quite make myself pull the trigger knowing that I can't really work on it for at least a year. I hate getting old and practical.
In reply to mazdeuce:
Wha-wha-what???
You're wife said you could buy it and you're turning it down?
...where's that "head exploding" gif...
In reply to aussiesmg:
Aussiesmg I can store this (outdoors) at my house for you for a while, and pick it up in the ATL area if need be. If it looks good, but logistics don't work, this might help.

I know I could recruit a bunch of the Subaru nut jobs who rallycross with me from over by Austin. They're always putting inappropriate motors in things and making them run well. I actually think I could finish the car with some help, it's the psychological toll that I'm worried about. If I put this car in storage for a year, which is what I'd have to do and my wife has already priced it out god bless her heart, it would eat at me every day. I'd know it was sitting and waiting and it would really really bother me. I want to get the garage done and the house done and the wagon done and get a road race license and still be able to do stuff with my kids and my wife. Mothballing on purpose until I have time just makes me really really uneasy.

That's actually the plan sitting in my head. I know she'd make space in the shop for it if I promised to rallycross it. I probably need to go back in the thread and look at the pictures again. Anyone know what the Ferrari weighed stock?
Would you be interested in trade? I worked with jay on the electricals and isolated the immobalizer issue and i know the status of the car. I live in atlanta too
Raze, yes, I'll consider a trade. Trade + cash is best. I sent you a private email. This car needs to get back in a garage ASAP. I have it well covered, but it's still outdoors at this time. No room in my garage... If no one steps up, I'm going to put it on ebay & let the market determine the value. I just thought I'd offer it up here first since there is so much interest in it.
It's been very hard to put a price on this project, but I just decided I'd like to just get back the value of my Alfa Romeo I traded. I will sell this project as you have seen it in this blog WITH interior door panels, back seat & center console for $6500. If you just want the Ferrari shell (no motor or trans.) I'll let it go for $4500. If I do not have a buyer by the end of Labor Day Weekend, I'll put it up on ebay. Come & get it!
