Interrupting our regularly scheduled program to bring you today's update: The Castaway was busy earning it's keep. Needed to replace this rusted away 75 year old culvert:
Manual labor Sucks.
That's when I remembered I have a logging chain and a Rig I don't care about:

Delayed a bit, but here’s a run down of the four wheeling trip to RedBird State Recreation Area.
Originally we had three Rigs scheduled, but one was a last minute cancelation, so It was just the Castaway and an Awesome Jeep Comanche.
First up, was the Castaway in it’s native environment: It’s a thirsty ride.
First destination: Big Bertha Challenge area; It’s a steep hill climb area.
Here’s the Comanche cresting the hill:
We saw a Box Turtle as we drove, so stopped to help him cross:
Out on a random trail: Nick and his Comanche.
Nick Built his truck from the ground up. He paid $300 for it (it was someone else's parts donor and mostly stripped, no engine or trans etc.) He combined a Cherokee and the Comanche shell and added big tires. It was a Beast:

It was Hot that day, Humid and temps in the lower to mid 90's. (you'll see we opened our hoods often to help keep the engines a bit cooler)
Yes, we had every seat in the Armada Castaway filled. 8 people total.
This was a "Challenge Area", I decided to give it a try.
Nope, Got stuck, and Nick with his winch to the rescue:
After pulling me out, Nick took a better line and was able to make it through:
Then we went back up to the top of Big Bertha and grabbed some lunch:
Then some more Mud:
The kids had fun playing in the dirt:
Then part of the crew had to leave (they drove separately in the grey Prius)
Nick and the rest of the crew hit the trails for some more fun:
Indy Kid # 3 even got a chance to do some driving:

By this time, we needed some more food so stopped for another bit to eat from the cooler. (you can see Nick's rig loaded up in the background):
It threatened rain all day, but we stayed dry until the drive home, where we saw this rainbow:
It was an awesome fun filled day. The kids loved it, Nick loved it, and I had a Great time too. It's so much fun having a Rig you just don't care about bouncing off of trees (foreshadowing . . . .)

Yep, It was the only (legal) vehicle we had that would haul all eight of us that day.
About that bouncing off trees thing. Yep, crunched the newly replaced door on a pine tree:
No broken glass or lights. That's a win
