So ever since I sold the Accord and got FiSTed, I've been itching for another Honda. I threw A couple of mods at the Fiesta, a Cobb accessport (too much 'donkey punch' torque, removed after a month and sold), a free Boomba BPV spacer, A CP-e rear mount, and LED headlights to add some personalized touches and more daily fun over the winter. After I sold the Cobb, a buddy of mine called me up and told me he would sell me a shell for $500. I said "maybe" and we went from there. About two weeks go by, and he tells me he'll take $300 for the car as long as it's gone by Friday as it's going to be towed from where it's parked at his trailer park(oh yes, it's one of those cars).

So I swing down with a trailer and $300, and snap up a total pile of crap. Why? Because my now not-quasi-anymore-girlfriend is allowing me to spend about $100 a check and this dropped into my lap.

Basic rundown- it's a white 94 EX shell, has no front end panels (don't be fooled by that bumper cover or hood, I have to give them back), no driver seat, door panels, or engine/transmission/ECU/harness, EVERY suspension component that moves is roached, and the brakes stop the car at 2mph being pushed, bur i wouldnt trust tbem any faster than that. Patch quarter panels were done (not very well) and the rockers were ignored/painted over as they're non existent under the covers. Otherwise, aside from a filthy interior, and I know saying this is going to come back to haunt me, its a CLEAN car.

Modification #1- me being me, and because the P.O. wanted the wheels back that I trailered it home with (for whatever unknown reason), I had to source a set of wheels. A buddy posted on his Facebook he had a set of 99-00 Civic Si wheels with 3 "drivable" tires and one "straight berkeleyed" so I snapped them up for the lowly sum of $50 and threw them on the car. I don't plan to run these, just needed something to put on the car. I plugged in the window switches, found the headlights in the trunk, and found a fusebox cover in my toolbox (score!).

Wheel choice #2: when I got the Fiesta, I scored a set of stock potenzas for the lowly sum of buying said friend some waffle house for breakfast. Sold them for $150, bought a set of Sweeeeeet 15" TSW's for $100, which i promptly sold for $200, and picked up a set pf 16" enkei es6's wrapped in near-new nitto snow tires (not good, if you're pondering). My -$40(including waffle house purchase) snow wheels/tires were used this winter, and when I took them off a couple weeks ago, I posted then for trade for a set of 4x100 15x7 lightweight wheels. As if graced by the budget gods, someone offered me a set of 15x7 +40 4x100 Konig Foils with bald tires. Perfect! Met him halfway in Sidney, OH as he was from Podunk Cincinnati area and I'm in Toledo. They're in decent shape, and would probably look great just slapped on there.

Plans? Under $2018(by my count) "cheap-o 60% of the time it might be good enough FSP" and track rat build until I buy a house with no-longer-quasi-gf and then it's tear down and rebuild into my "dream" Honda. This is my favorite chassis, and has the best support. If it takes me years, so be it.

Immediately: find a D series to drop in it with 'maintenance' mods, but if I get greedy I may scratch the FSP plans and just go to a B20Z. Replace all suspension bushings/mounts with either Hardrace or PIC components. Maybe Integra Type-R suspension, maybe whatever I can scrounge together cheap. Put all new wheel bearings on it and completely re-do the brake system from pedal to drums. Bleach the interior because it smells like cat piss and A medical marijuana dispensary, whatever needs to be done to get that stench out. Clean, clean, clean, clean, clean. Maybe put some body panels on the front if I can find cleanish white panels. Dial it in, enjoy beating the snot out of it.

Stay tuned!

I vote for the B20z and swap to integra calipers and suspension.

Last time I went searching for a cheap take-off Type-R suspension they all seemed to be dried up. I ended up just going with H&R OE sports and Konis since it was as close as I could get on the spring rates (and I just like Koni sports). I was on a schedule though, so maybe you'll have better luck than me.

Cool project btw.

Also, you're obligated to stare at the empty engine bay and say, "A couple of Nissan SR20's would pull a premium one week before race wars."

Already have multiple times hahaha!

Honestly my engine/suspension options really depend on what I can get my greasy paws on.

Awhile ago I was playing with the idea of a seriously high compression B20 hybrid thing. If you do this, I will drive down to Toledo with beer and BBQ and wrenches to assist.

You'll need to log in to post.
