Here's the official build thread for this car. It was on our message board for some time before we picked it up; a missing title when we arrived changed the purchase price to $500, meaning this rare yellow car is crapcan-eligible.

We have one more work night scheduled this week. With a little luck, we'll have it at the $2012 Challenge on Thursday.
Have some spare injectors on hand when you go to fire it up, they're probably all plugged up from the long sit.
Ahead of you there, Keith. The fuel tank was super gummy and gross, and the pump was froze up. Some used injectors are on hand, courtesy Flyin' Miata salvage.
I knew you had a set I saw the comment about the fuel pump in one of the project updates. Good luck getting it resurrected in time.
This car, unfortunately, won't make it to the Challenge. We believe we've found the root of our problem: rat turds. Lots of them.

well sh_t...another racecar in the crapper
Bring it to the Challenge anyway, let the Challengers try and get it fixed and the ones that do get extra credit or a free run on the AutoX, etc. ;)
Looks like the yellow Miata is going to stay home. This frees us up to give you guys more attention. A group project would be fun, but we have a lot on our plate for this weekend.
Oh, Ungo, why are you so difficult to deal with?
We fought and fought with this car's Ungo Box security system. It looks likely to be the source of our inability to get it to start.

Alarms are the devil. They are designed to keep cars from running, exactly the opposite of what we really want.
Excellent garage carpet.
Have you tried this yet?

Emergency Override
In case your Remote Transmitter becomes inoperable, or it is lost or stolen, you can still enter and drive your car by using the following procedure. Be sure that before you attempt the procedure that you have your ignition key ready and that you know the location of the override switch
To override the system:
1. Unlock the door using the key.
2. Enter the vehicle.
Because the system is armed, the system will trigger and the siren will be sounding
3. Turn ignition key on.
4. Within 4 seconds, press and hold the override switch.
The system will disarm.
5. You can now start and drive the car.
Clarion still has the instruction manuals dating back to 2005. Select the year then the part number and you should see links to installation instructions on the right side of the product page.
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2005/index.html
This site also has .pdfs with wiring diagrams. You'll need to sign up to view anything with more than one page, but then again you can go back to Clarion's page.

Seems simple enough to me. Find all non-OE components and wires. Remove and repair.
^ Kieth has the right idea. Our system is from the late 90s as far as we can tell, so we can't find instructions. As an added bonus, it's partially broken, and most of its sensors are broken.
We're just going to tear it out.
+1 for tearing it out - I hate alarms with a passion (I had several cars in the UK disable themselves when parked in the wrong spot and the alarm refused to disable due to interference with "something") so as long as the insurance doesn't make it a requirement, in the bin it goes.
I'm planning to rip out the alarm from my Miata over the winter, too.
I yanked the Ungo box out. It wasn't nearly as intrusive as the internet said it was. But it still wouldn't start, so we had to start our troubleshooting over again. The timing belt was good when we first checked it, but while we worked on the fuel system and the alarm, its teeth stripped. Now we're doing a timing belt job, too. Joe did most of the work to get the front of the engine apart.

Hey, it runs now!
And Joe is one good-looking pump jockey.

paint the valvecover to match the wheels (duplicolor sells it), leave the hood off.
looks great! Wheels suit the car.
