I got a new car for a cheaper alternative for racing. That was the idea anyway. See if you can guess it based on these hints.
1) built by one of the big 3
2) most of the engine and interior parts are leftovers and reused from other cars made by this manufactuer
3) the exterior panels are nearly impossible to find
4) There are not a lot of these around

Sky. Or Pontiac Solstice.
All good guesses, but for the sake of covering allllll of the bases and the super cheap angle, I'm gonna go with Geo...
Pontiac GTO (holden Monaro)
In reply to obsolete :
Winner winner, A pontiac solstice for dirt cheap from copart. Runs and drives great, body damage for literally a hood, bumper, door, fender, quarter panel. Was enough to total it.

Thank you for reminding me that exists. I can't remember the last time I saw one on the road, but I do remember that I got way too excited.
In reply to Colin Wood :
GM cannot stand letting perfect beauty just exist. ;_;

Cool. There is a company working on fiberglass body parts now: https://www.solsticeforum.com/threads/new-fiberglass-body-panels.167701/

A guy that I work with bought one new. As much as I liked it, it was an absolute nightmare for him.
