My problem seems to be solved. Your theory is valid and my next step was going to be taking my ECM to a GM dealer and get it flashed as a Regal GS with manual trans, but as far as I can tell the newest tune is working.

Man you are diving way deeper than most guys in this particular build. And not so mush as transplanting from something else to a race car, but all of the things that you can't see like high speed serial data messages, working around redundant government mandated features, and just over all programming. What ever this is in, should be a blast. Like my friends keep telling me " If it was easy everyone would be doing it!" Keep on trailblazing.

It's funny how life works but when I started this project, I knew something about cars with carbs and distributors and a little about welding. I had to learn more and more as things progressed and now I could fake a conversation about roll center, CAD programs and tuning a DI engine. It's not because I set out to learn these things but I have no money to hire a smart person to do it for me. I don't think all my troubles are behind me but having overcome all these hurdles already, I have confidence in my ability to tackle all the ones in my future. I started taking apart the car for painting today, it's surprising how quickly it all comes apart. Ok, now back to my build thread
