Yup...this car was inspired partly by the threads last couple of years on this board about cheap C4s, a weekend Roadkill bender...and one too many beers

Well, I for one, am hella excited about how this turns out.

Could Corvettes be the street-fightered Hayabusa of the car world, where they actually become MORE awesome the less plastic and bodywork they have? I sure hope so.

Ok, time to unveil lots going on and I hope lots more soon, but let's start with windshield, template made, Makrolon ordered, I'll show the steps and the finished product as I complete them all. I did this before on the Merkur so I think I've got it down:

First pass on upgrading wheels is this set of AREs, 17x9.5 front, 17x11 rear, 2 piece billet, first one on right was after steel wool scrub, one on left after some mothers metal polish and a polish cone. After searching and working on budget cap, I've decided to go another direction, future installment , so these will be up for sale soon, apparently they're good for sn95s...

Everything bad that people say about fiberglass is true, I still have nightmares.

I have wasted literally 12 hours on repairing the poor repair I inherited...I miss welding

Never gone, just no time to post much of this up, I was promoted end of last year and I went from running projects to running people who run the projects. I'm planning on being at the 2017 Challenge, one way or another.

So back to more of the body work:

I should be in a position soon to start paint, which is going to be rolled on topside boat paint, which I have some experience with

I should also be able to start fixing the electricals change fluids, put the seat in, register it, and drive it on the street, without bodywork

Man, fiberglass always looks like a brutal orgy of sanding.

In my shoes, this car's body would consist entirely of ziptied-together political-campaign lawn signs.

Wow, I'd forgotten about this, but seeing the pic from the mag made me remember you're also part of the bad influence that lead me to buying my '85. Thanks!

If you bring it to the Challenge I think all 3 of us plus Ovid-and-Flem are going to need matching gold chains.

Hi Agent, I hadn't seen that one, but let's just say I've got some experience in roll on jobs, mine will be far cheaper and if done right should be on par with the one you posted.

Here's my $57 paint job...

Teaser...this should help me recover budget!

Plastics place took 5 days to issue my invoice, still haven't heard from them if it's ready, hopefully next week.

Man you guys really make me regret cutting up the $600 84 I had for it's suspension. I hope I make it to this years challenge to see all this great stuff!

So now that I have a full set of 18x9.5 wagon wheels, time to unveil a little more...

If anyone needs C5 parts or possible contact on race tires, bushings and the like, let me know, met a really cool fella down in Macon who incidentally met me wearing a GRM T-shirt

Also, if people aren't using Facebook Marketplace, get going, it seems like a cheaper version of CL across the board, at least in my area.

I have a feeling the 2018 Challenge subclass is going to be dedicated to modified C4s!

MAKROLON!

Picked up the new windshield from Professional Plastics, I stepped up to quarter inch as I used 1/8 on the Merkur and found at 75+ mph there was some flex that resulted in a necessary center brace.

Next step was to apply the template:

Then cut, I use a jigsaw, key is to use a metal blade at a high speed and it will prevent a messy edge, but you will get spalling if you push too hard, so just file it off:

Next step is to get the old glass out and trim. Once trimmed, I cut off the inside masking around the edge and paint black to get a nice OEM mask, and then rivet in place, but that will be a bit later:
