Not familiar with the Motivo line, but Nitto used to be the go-to for drag racers who didn't have the budget for separate street and race tires.

According to Tire Rack they are mid-pack but for general driving they will be fine.  They were on sale for $112 each which is nearly free for a Z rated tire this big!  My feeling is that it gets me safely on the road rather than doing what I normally do and spending $2500 or $3000 on aftermarket wheels and tires right out of the gate.

Interestingly a set of polished wheels from a 95 Corvette popped up on FB MP with near new looking Conti Sport Contacts on them.  I messaged the seller and he is sending me date codes from the tires.  If the tires are recent I may grab that set and cancel the TR order.

That parasitic draw is a feature. LOL! A friend of mine's dad had a 1987? white on red C4 when I was in high school. J and I got to run around his in his dad's Corvette every now and then. I remember his dad installing a kill switch because it would flatten a battery when it sat for more than a day or two.

That was back in 1993-94.

I burned a new pcm chip to disable the vats as it left me stranded a few times.

Destination #1 when going from a non-VATS car like the '87 IROC I have to a VATS tune such as '89 Corvette is to disable VATS. People forget to do it all the time.

Score!  Today I grabbed a set of 17x9.5 chrome reps with amazing looking but old tires on them.  The chrome is very nice with minor pitting in the recesses of the spokes only.  I started another thread on the tires, so I'll let the pictures tells the story of my sweet $400 investment:

I threw the "new" wheels and tires on during my lunch.  I'm going to test drive on them after work.  The wheels were a pretty good score though I like the looks of the original wheels better.  The problem is that the originals have all manor of clearcoat issues (which I can ultimately refinish) but also have a LOT of curbing consistent with a nearly 80 year old driver...

Wish me luck...

Update:  I drove roughly 5 miles on those tires **up to** 46 mph and...as far as I'm aware...didn't die!

I can say this with confidence:  those tires are very hard.  While I think they're likely safe to drive on, there is zero question in my mind that performance, safety, and comfort will improve immensely with the new skins.

I would slap a battery tender on the car, leave it to trickle charge the car overnight. Harbor Freight sells a great and affordable one that is low profile. Slap it on to maintain the battery and let it sit.

If it starts the next morning the same way it has when you have been disconnecting it, its not that. Id recommend a good tuneup, check the fuel filter, perhaps take the injectors out and have them cleaned.

Today I worked an 11 hour shift (at home) so I didn't have a lot of free time.  What I decided to do, though, was test how long the battery would remain charged and able to start the car without disconnecting it.  I hooked it up at 8:30, went out at lunch at 12:30, and it started right up.  On a related note, though completely cold, it started easier and ran smoother at the outside I think because power had remained constant for the 4 hours.  I turned it back off after letting it warm up.

This time it sat 5.5 hours.  Once again it started up just fine, though oddly part of my digital dash was harder to read until it had run a few minutes and I presume charged the battery up.  This proves that as-is I can take it to the grocery store or a cars and coffee and be unafraid of it not starting.

On a fun note, I made a quick video of the completely Rad digital dash in operation.  The more I look at it the cooler I think it is!

Just make sure you hang on to those original wheels please. That way when you post this for sale here in a year or two, I don't have to go find OG wheels.

That made me laugh out loud.  I have to admit the longer I look at the chrome wheels...the more I like the original wheels.  They are curbed all to heck and need to be refinished, but I'm thinking I may actually have Tire Rack throw the new tires on the original wheels and I may pull the chrome jobs off and sell them.  I guess the good news is that I'm unlikely to lose money on them.

Ive had the new tires installed, but I think at least one is severely out of balance.  I'm going to swap the original wheels back on for a test drive.  Every time I get a good look at the size of these tires it makes me giggle a little.  This car has a small amount of power but a BIG amount of tire:
