I am not a little bit jealous that you can buy a new tank.

Notched crossmember for alternator clearance

also fixed the chinesium gas pedal, pulled booster back out to set the pushrod length, fuel  lines run to engine bay, intake off for the last time, cut what was left of the original bellhousing mounts off the chassis, filler tube hooked up to the gas tank.

Also part of me is ready to chop a coil off the front springs and do something sinister with the front wheels.

Booster in for real, pedal hooked up. Electrical thing in the lift hydraulic pump let it's smoke out so I'm without that ability till Thursday unfortunately.

got my gaskets and bolts out to put the exhaust manifolds on for good so I can mount the coils. Throttle cable up next.

Intake on, driver's side exhaust manifold verified no pitman arm interference anywhere lock to lock so it's installed. Left plugs tightened, coil packs on, plug wires on, shift linkage bolted to column with cone spacers on the rod end like it should have come with. Coil cover just fits with the booster. Probably will run them because I like how they cover up all the wires and stuff, and this is also actually a corvette engine so no poseur points

ordered coolant crossover tube because I dunno where mine went. I'll probably find it as soon as the new one arrives

Ordered a 15' chunk of 4ga welding cable from home depot with gift cards so I can run the alternator to the battery properly. The amount of people on the internet saying use a 10ga for the alternator to battery wire is shockingly way more than one.

I learned something when I had to repair the wiring harness on that '63.  GM intentionally ran fairly small cabling to the alternator for... some reason.  I think it was to limit the current going to the battery if it was severely discharged, to prevent cooking it.  Noise reduction may have also been a factor.

Probably not an issue with 2020s batteries, may be important with 1960s batteries.  And they didn't have a bunch of electronics to power up in 1963, even the washer fluid pump was mechanical.

Passenger manifold on, fuel line finished, passenger coils, plugs, wires in. I guess I need to buy gaskets and make or buy flanges and o2 bungs so I can build an exhaust.

looking like I'll be making a pcm mount and cover for the left inner fender because there's really very little room under the dash for anything. Have the harness laid out right now so I can start plugging stuff in. Dug out my MAF and hoping I have enough pipe and connectors to get the air filter somewhere not hot

edit: ordered flange gaskets, heater bypass hose, brake switch for converter lockup, pcm brackets, and adapter harness to run my 5 wire MAF. I found diagrams for the flanges so I'll see if I can make them in cad and cut them out. I'm very rusty with the programs, but I have a chunk of 1/4" plate

Exhaust manifold gaskets arrived. Fancy coolant crossover installed, lift fixed, a bag of o2 bungs came. I'm hopeful that I have enough pipe or at least bends to make an exhaust. Definitely have a couple mufflers. Part of me wants it silly loud but the part of me that owns the Wartburg says one silly loud car is enough.

fancy crossover:

also picked up oil and coolant, forgot ATF. Getting wiring figured out. Have begun making battery and ground cables

Idk, but I'm working on wiring right now. Today I was like "man I need a battery cable crimper" then amazon showed up with one like 20 minutes later. Apparently the other night while I was absolutely not high I ordered one. If it were legal in my home state, weed would apparently be magical and cause tons of foresight in the tool purchasing department.

the alternator loves not occupying the same space as the crossmember anymore

Did some wires yesterday. Lots of securing to do. Going to run the pcm and fuse/relay block on the left inner fender tucked behind the core support. I should probably route the brake lines soon, just don't feel like it yet. Kinda feel like driving before fall is possible.

the $13 hammer crimper from bozos. Works perfectly fine, makes a nice crimp.

Just looked that up, I need one also.  Amazon product description is a gem:

"Durable enough. No problems after thousands of beatings ....

Recommend 2 to 4 lb sledgehammer, with a bigger hammer you don't have to hit it as many times."

With a drilling hammer(2# sledge) one low effort smack and it's done

Did a little more wire routing, starter installed, pcm mounted and will be mostly hidden behind the core support unless someone is just trying to find everything, as the air filter or intake plumbing is going to end up above it.

we've been super busy the last week so just tried to do 10-20 minutes a day. Leaving for Michigan in a few so no progress until Monday. Need to relax.

Continuing wiring. I'm planning to make a cover for the relays and ecm that attaches with a couple screws and will be the same color as the inner fenders

When's first fire?

Last night

Brief rundown:

Installed trans cooler

finished swap wiring less brake switch

put on oil filter and filled engine

ordered exhaust flanges and o2 sensors

tested wiring as much as possible

belt the internet said fits actually fit

test fired on ether

Fuel in gas tank and pressure tested lines

radiator hose making supplies are out for delivery

ordered some other stuff

think I have enough pipe and stuff to make an exhaust

Installed hptuners on my newish laptop yesterday and found the program I wrote for this engine/transmission in my impala so I can hopefully plug in and get moving on that stuff, can't actually fire it on fuel till I delete the VATS.

Brake line supplies are all here. Steering rebuild stuff almost all here.
