Are there any codes being set or pending ? A flaky relay or loose ground would act the same .Next time it happens I would check the coil power and the injector power .

I haven't checked the codes! Duh. Good idea on the coils and injectors. I had the VATS tuned out of the computer, but it acts like it wasn't when this happens. I wonder if the computer some how thinks it needs the VATS signal and then after it sits, reboots to the tune where it is bypassed. I know im probably reaching but that's what it feels like.
I think if vats were in play it would throw a code .The randomness of occurrences would favor a mechanical malfunction .What ecm are you using ? In the Porsche world worn ignition switches cause some some strange malfunctions
The ECU is from a 2004 Suburban. I'll check the codes today. I have a CEL but it doesn't seem to be working.
Got to drive it today with the electric power steering. Feels terrific! I think the 70% or so boost of the pump in the default mode is perfect for the weight of the car! Easy to turn in a parking lot and comfortable while cruising. And I have the ability to turn it off if I feel the need on the highway. Couldn't be happier.
Put 150 highway miles on it on Sunday. Absolutely love the steering feel on the highway. No need to turn it off on the highway.
Still having some electrical problems with the A/C, but I think I have a solution. I'll know more tomorrow.
My 6 year old grandson's view of the car!
Had the Europa out at Cars and Planes in Toledo on Saturday. How often will I get the chance to park beside a Biplane?!
Very impressive. Video when it's on the road/autocross/track? I had 1973 JPS Europa into which I installed an RX-7 rotary. Great car. Nowhere near as much work as yours.
