My father once said something to the effect of: its already broke. Whats the worst that can happen?
Another of his was: if man made it, man can fix it.
I tend to think of his sayings and wisdom when presented with new and challenging problems. However, this car was only able to be done like this due to having other stuff to drive, and time to walk away and research and think.
I swear anyone can do this. Its not rocket surgery. But i really appreciate the encouragement. Ots pretty daunting at times.

My buddy Round Greg used to say "if I can't fix it, I can berkeley it up so bad nobody else can fix it!"
I'd say if you can fix German cars with electrical and computer problems, you probably can fix anything.
Just dont try to paint it, lol.
I won't. I promise.
It's too nice for my paint. Hence trying to find factory paint panels.
The postman came hours ago. How long does it take to plug a computer in?
If he had brought it, about 17 minutes.
But he didn't, damn commie.
Instead i finished the tint and door panel. And read my book.

Commie tease of a bastage postman.
I really hope it shows up today. Waiting is killing me.
Yes! Victory over the Germans!
I apparently jinxed myself. Cel came back leavingthe folks house.
Ill pull the codes tomorrow.
Code is p1188
Have way too much to do today, so diagnostic will have towait.....
Well, im sitting in a parking lot waiting for the doctors office to open. Found that i never tightened the hose clamp just behind the maf.
Ill clear code and see what happens.
That's likely it. If the O2 sensor problem was still present I doubt the CEL would have stayed off that long.
my brief googles says small vacuum leak, so could definitely be the loose clamp between MAF and engine. GO DUSTER!
I tightened the hose clamp just behind the maf after my dr appointment, cleared the code, and drove home with no cel. Well see what later today brings.
However, the fm reception is so poor an antenna upgade hit the top of the list right beside reconnecting the inner door handle on the front drivers door.

Good news I presume from the Doc. Tempered enthusiasm on the BMW, hope it all comes together.
Try the vape stuff. It worked for me. No cigs for 4 years, and I started smoking long before you were born. Try it and see if it works for you. Good luck.

that's 6th gear in the 6AT, just loafing along.
I have completed the most hack work i have ever done in the name of testing.
Installing the amp, rca cables, amplified roof antenna, etc is going to be a huge job. Essentially everything that is below the headliner on the drivers side has to be pulled.
Thats not including the day that it will take to make the sub box. So were looking at 4 days roughly. And lots of broken parts. On a car im not sure is fixed.
Way too much work for something that im not sure i will like.
So, i drilled a hole in the dash kit i hate, ran my sub rca through it and the antenna extension, stuffed the cables between the console and seat, ran them between the rear seats, bolted the power antenna in place of the cell phone one, and threw the amp under the spare.
It us incredibly hack.
Well see tomorrow what i think.
CEL?
BTW,I quit smoking way differently than most. I bought a brand new pack, smoked 1 cig, and put the mini bic lighter in the plastic and set it on the bottom shelf like edge of the speedo gauge. I drive a lot so everytime I got in the car, my favorite place to smoke, I had to look at them, 19 beautiful smokes ready for me to enjoy. From there, all you have to do is keep from grabbing them. That , the extra taxes (i was self employed at the time) and being a guy that hates to give up control, being ruled by dried leaves in a paper tube really bothered me.
