991.2 Carreras (Twin turbo 3.0 liter)  are sort of overlooked as great track and Autocross cars.  I started on lightweight 991.2 Carrera build a couple years ago.  I started by ordering my 991.2 Carrera T with all lightweight options,  carbonfiber seats with rear seat delete, lightweight glass, very few options .  Car as delivered was about 3130 lbs.

My plan was to keep as much of stock body work and interior on the car as possible while drastically reducing weight.  I started by replacing 50 lb plus battery with 11 lb lithium battery.  Next I pulled steel headers and replaced with titanium .  Stock muffler replaced with straight pipe muffler off the turbos.  Next I had custom made forged 19 inch wheels made .  19x10.5 front with 295/25/19 vitour p1 and 19x12.5 rear with 345/25/19 vitour.  AC delete as well.  Lots of cosmetic plastics pulled from trunk and engine areas.  Suspension uses gt3 lower control arms with Tractive coilovers.  I installed AP racing calipers with two piece rotors.  Engine is stock internals with a 91 octane tune and makes about 450 hp.

interior I wanted to keep close to street car so I pulled stereo out and stripped most of interior behind b columns .  Left carpets in rear to help with sound and heat.  I did pull my headliner as I am 6'4 and always was bumping my helmet . I replaced my heavy door cards with gt4 clubsport carbonfiber panels.

The car as it sits currently is about 2875lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel.

Carrera T so hot.  i had one in the budget but just couldn't pull the trigger. Following this thread to properly scale my regret.

Looking forward to more of a 911.2 getting used according to its potential and not its status.

Oddly, I saw a Carrera T street parked this weekend. Was just about to add the photo to the sightings thread.

Thing I love about the Carrera T are small turbos as this car pulls hard from low rpm. It may lack top end hp like a GT3 but it has low rpm grunt that gt3 doesn't .

Here is better shot of my GT4 clubsport door card.  Love these as I retain my window and mirror controls .  Porsche made these so you just pull controller from oem door cards and pop into place.  No fabricating .  Plug and play!  But man is there a Porsche tax!  I also pulled door sill plastic , cleaned up adhesive and put a couple grommets in holes left.

I have received Soul trackback exhaust system.  The weight reduction and power improvement is compelling.  Should drop another 15 lbs with this straight pipe solution if I pull it off the streets and make it dedicated track car.

This shows nice oem radio delete shelf .  Nice new storage place.  I use my cell phone and big blue tooth speaker for tunes now.

Now here is crazy stuff.  I bought this used front clip that is off a Porsche Motorsports Hillclimb car that raced at pikes peak.  Mostly for gt3 front bumper.  I'm debating on whether to go with crazy vented fenders and huge splitter.  Perhaps just bolt splitter on for hillclimbs.  I have a wing for back of the car as well.

I also went with TIAL 3D printed titanium headers that drop weight and improve power.

Here are TIAL intercooler runners .  Lightweight aluminum is so much nicer than plastic Porsche uses.  I also replaced the crappy Porsche  diverter  valves that are prone to leaking to aftermarket billet aluminum units.

Straight pipes are always the right answer! cool

Especially when you have turbos as mufflers...

If you really want to measure weight loss, you should be filling your fuel tank before you get on the scales. A half tank is not a repeatable amount, especially if you're dealing with weights like a set of door cards.

Since the car has a 17 gallon tank, that means that "a half tank" is worth a 50 lb weight savings alone. That's 20% of the stated weight loss in the first post.

The splitter on that Pikes Peak nose is huge! more pics of that please.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

I've weighed it with full tank, half a tank and with me in the car as I have my own scales to see how I'm doing on corner weights.  Weight reduction in rear engine car that starts with huge rear bias is tough!  So I always check to see where I'm sitting on corners..  I haven't listed everything I have done but I'm about 250 lbs lighter from when car was delivered.  And while door cards are only 25 to 30 lb reduction it's hundreds of little deletions that add up to this weight loss.  I easily have over 100 lbs of cosmetic plastics in boxes.  Tons of metal brackets.  Heck I even drilled holes in my battery tray.  lol!

I have another easy 75 lbs to pull.  Mostly from rear of the car.  Pretty sure I'm going to land around 2825 full tank.

There's a Miata weight loss guy who gun-drilled his suspension bolts. He's nuts.

I agree that tracking weight loss a few ounces at a time is tough, that's why I suggested the consistent weighing process.

I literally have weighed every part that has come off this 911.  Pretty easy to track. The tough work is finding weight to remove off the back of the car to make sure I stay as close to 40/60 weight distribution.

This is a super cool build. I'm obsessed with shaving weight and searching for balance. I've dropped about 220 pounds from my project vehicle since I bought it. I sure wish someone made carbon door panels for it! I've contemplated making some of my own, but they sure as hell won't look as nice as those ones from Porsche.

It just keeps getting better and better!

Love how clean the sills look. It is nice to see more of the actual engineering of this car, which is usually hidden under something.

PM (via email, GRM systems are weird) sent.

Not too bad coming off small twin turbos non the T.  This car is similar to mine with same straight pipe exhust.

Here are my rattle can painted gt3 cup car flare pieces to allow my 10.5 front wheel with 295 tire to fit.  Only installed first half with my stock bumper eventually I will use full gt3 cup car flares with gt3 cup bumper I bought used  that pretty much just bolts onto Carrera T.  Just a few other parts like radiator ducting and fender linings that I have been buying used as well from race car marketplaces.  Some people spend upwards of $15k to convert Carrera to gt3 bumper using new parts.  I have spent less than $2k on bumper and many of parts to do conversion.  Gt3 bumper offers much better aero and splitter options than my Carrera bumper.
