Nice!!! Im doing the same thing with a 991.2 Carrera S with PDK. I have removed both seats and now have a recaro seats with 6 points harness and roll cage. The best upgrade until now have been the GTS turbos with APR re-flash almost 550 whp and 550 torque to the wheels. Right now the car is in the shop getting Ohlins coil-overs, tarret and Gt3 sway-bars. Also the car is getting a corner balance adjustment. The car is great and have do lap times comparable to GT3 and GT3-RS. Enjoy in good health!!!
Some of useless crap on new Porsches. These are sound Symposers that pump intake noise into cabin of the car. They also operate on vacuum. Not sure why Porsche thought adding more complexity and weight to back of a 911 just to pipe weird sounds into rear of cabin was cool? Very easy to delete. Just cap off connections to intake and plug vacuum lines.

YouTube sound clips are not representative of reality. Trust me, I've had 4 different exhausts on my 996 Turbo.
In reply to docwyte : don't worry I've heard it in person. It's not much different than muffler delete I have off the cats now ...just slightly louder and more turbo noise. The dinky Turbos on my car work as great mufflers. 3.0 liter 9A2 is much more quiet than your old school 996 Turbo. I have a friend with straight pipes 996 turbo it's kooky loud too.
I have to ask why not a cup car or a 4.0 GT4. Both are much better starting points for a track car.
Not knocking it I loved my Porsches but the used cup market is flooded right now.

I bought this car 5 years ago for about $105K when Porsches still could be ordered at a discount without allocation hassles. . This isn't a track car as much as a fun street legal hot rod that I autocross and hillclimb in street car classes. I do occasional track days but track isn't my focus. GT cars are still fetching premiums and are expensive to maintain. 9A2 twin turbo motor is full of potential and under appreciated. Very easy to tune to 600 hp. And it has far more torque than a N.A. GT car. My car is manual so torque is a nice thing. I have so much torque I can start in 2nd gear and spin the tires Also 991.2 Carrera T was only car other than GT2 RS to have lightweight glass. It also had many GT options including a mechanical LSD standard. Car is far more capable than gt4. I'd have to go to gt4 RS to get a faster car. Weight wise it is same as gt3 when optioned correctly.
I've considered a 997 cup car but very hard to make one street legal in California and then I'd have to buy a tow rig and a trailer.
...and you'd be surprised how easy it is to make suspension equal to GT car. Coilovers, GT3 control arms that I had left over from another build, used gt3 sway bars, and it's damn close to GT car in terms of handling. I think of my Carrera T as being cheap man's GT2 RS . 😆
I love these types of builds!! Always lusted after a carrera T due to the lightweight philosophy. Excited to see how this build goes, keep posting pics and stories! Valuable knowledge and high quality entertainment for us all ;)

"Old school", ouch! Lol. I prefer to think of it as "mature" with the proper Mezger motor, haha. I like the newer carrera T's, they put the larger brakes on them. Although I doubt I'll have money to buy a "modern" Porsche anytime soon. I'll stick with my 600hp "old school" turbo.

I don't know what your target events are but if they include scca national autocross you're probably going to have at least a little trouble meeting sound. I don't have any experience with the turbo engines but I do have an annoying amount of experience with trying to get a GT3 with catalytic converters *and* a full size muffler to pass. I can't imagine turbos alone are much quieter. I'd guess you'd need some turndowns like the car in the video has, at minimum.
In reply to dps214 :
My Carrera T with cats and straight pipe muffler delete was measured at 88 db at SCCA National tour event this year and I pass 90 db at Laguna Seca that has strict sound. A GT3 with cats and no muffler would blow sound for sure. Will see but I don't think I will blow SCCA solo 100 db limit. My Straight pipe 3.4 liter FP class Cayman S was at 99 db but I had no turbos. I'd be limited to fewer track days for sure but I think I can make some little shorty mufflers to bolt onto cat delete section .

lol yeah 25 year old mezger cars showing up at historic events now. The 991.2 T had more go fast options available than 992 and 991.2 could be ordered with same pccbs as gt3. 992 ran into supply chain issues and they didn't offer some of options I was able to get. I checked build stats and my car was one of 5 in USA with options I ordered.
Here is a short video of the car at a local autocross with no muffler. It makes less noise than a stock GT3.

Saw this car recently, but before I got to read this build thread. Lava Orange, is that the right color code?
Holy crap, they're 3d printing TiAl into headers? Awesome. But the picture shows the tubes appear welded, that's gotta be tricky. I will have to chat you up at an event sometime! That's a header material you don't want to bang too hard into anything, assuming it's like the turbo impellers it's been used for.
As far as less noise than a stock GT3, that's good. Some other locals had what musta been a near straight pipe (just "regular" titanium ;-) on their GT3 and those of us in the autocross trailer had to cover our ears each time they launched, no turbo muffling there.... When the '80's Chrysler TC3 coupe came out it had (I was told by the test drive dealer) just the turbo and the catalyst with no muffler after that. It had a fun rorty sound to it, but things were a little looser way back then.
