Looking for a donor car. What does these two cars have in common??? Maserati merak and Lotus Esprit S1. They both had weak engines and gearboxes. BUT they were lite weight and handled good on the open road. I have a pipe dream. Looking for one of these cars that do not run because of these problems and have been parked and forgotten somewhere in America.
I may have a way to make a very fun car out of this Junk. Ls 6 engine and a caymanGT4 gearbox. And some creative engineering.
Hi Ron. About 10 years too late here on the Merak, it went away. I will keep my eyes peeled, but near everyone on this forum has the idea, it is only the components that are missing

Alarm bells in my head..About 9 years ago an Esprit Turbo came through my care to "Make it run". It had been parked a year, so CIS fuel system failures fixed it and it started. Then I found out why it was parked, blown crown and pinion. They all do that. Don't restrict yourself to S1 Esprits. The car in question may still be parked, it went back to the same place. The owner said his kid would do a project with it. Said kid had a disassembled Buick GN in the yard that looked untouched in years. PM me and I will pass his info on, I bet it hasn't moved, and it is in Upper Nazareth by failing memory.
