I love aircooled VW's, I have been into them for a long time. A couple years ago I bought a 73 Baja Bug, I don't like baja's, but it was super solid and rust free. I was planning to get it running and flip it quick. The motor was worse than I thought, and it's still sitting. I find myself losing interest in doing anything with it. I don't know if I just need motivation, or I should just try to get rid of it and find something that catches my interest. I don't know if I need advice, or just venting. But I wouldn't turn down the right trade.

Do yourself a favor and find something that interest you. Life is too short to waste spare time on something that does not interest you.
Is the engine something that has anything special in it for a future project? If not, I'd flip ASAP, too.
If it is, can you find a replacement engine you can swap, and then flip it?
Flip it and if you get the hots for another one buy a better one,
I have a few stashes of " virtual $$$" from projects I bought that were just beyond me when I got them home ,
Sold them off and bought better cars later....
