So the MR2 is going well and I still have plans for improving it but I picked up a new project. This is a 1978 Honda CB750 its been through a couple family members hands and finally ended up sitting in my dads backyard.

I asked if I could have it with the intention of fixing it up and turning it into a cafe racer. I know I know its overdone but I love how they look and while I appreciate cars capabilities I value bikes for the image and looks and don't mind making the ricer equivalent in the motorcycle world.

Going to take a lot of work just to make the thing run and stop properly let alone any modifications. Luckily much of what I need to change for my eventual goal needs to be fixed on the bike anyway.

Hoooo!  That IS going to take a lot of work.  Looking forward to watching!  I find myself sneaking peeks at the motorcycle section of CL every now and then seeing if there are any vintage Honda projects to be had cheap.

I'm a Suzuki guy, but there's nothing wrong with a CB750.  :)  Get it running first before spending any time on the cafe conversion, I've seen way too many projects that get stalled halfway through with just a pile of parts that don't work.

QFT. Make it run before you make it pretty or you might end up just being the next in the UJM Lawn Art chain of custody.

There’s a ton of aftermarket and parts support for the early CB’s, so parts should be fairly easy to find. Good luck with the build!

I did a remake on my 1979 CB750 and maybe can offer some advice. Don't bother putting pod filters on the stock CV carbs, just go with the Dynoman CR29 carbs and be done with it. Also, the Dynatek digital ignition works very nice and the Vance&Hines 4 into 1 exhaust has a sound that can't be beat. The older (1975 I think) CB750 has these beautiful green faced gauges that hook right up to the tach and speedo cables of the newer bike. I attached some pics of my bike.
