Do not buy the duplicolor rattle can high build primer. Im currently removing all of it with laquer thinner and a paper towel. It almost melts when you try to sand it, creating a brushed concrete like texture.

Yikes. On the bright side if it's off the car, it's off the budget and you can try something else.

That rattle can stuff has no catalyst so while it's 'high build' it's still 'thin coats' or it will dry where exposed to air but take forever underneath. If you can get it outside and bake it in the sun....

I have a feeling that what you are describing is what happened. And then after screwing with it i passed the point of no return....
My good friend art is a bodyman. Best $200 bodyman in the state, if you ask me!
He took pity on me and came by this afternoon to give me some pointers. He also volunteered to be my parental supervision when i paont this weekend!
At his suggestion, i grabbed 2 cans of rustoleum primer at lowes, and sprayed all the feathered and filled areas. Im supposed to let it sit outside until after work tomorrow, when i hand rub all the primer smooth with 400 grit. Then, wash again with a dawn and an sos pad. Dry it, and bring it inside until saturday morning when we put it under the carport to tape and spray.
Still have to remove the back bumper and prep the rocker moulding and mirrors (remove plastidip amd sand)
Now that's a smooth butt. Good call on the non-spraycan primer. I was able to sand mine within a couple hours, but always better to wait.
Out of primer, bondo, spot filler, and ass. The body is as straight as its gonna get.
I sweat sanded it with 400 grit (96 degrees, and i sweat like a whore in church), washed it 3 times over every nook, cranny, and accessible surface with a brown sos pad and dawn, followed by extreme levels of water from all directions and wiped with my waterblade.
Its ready to tape and spray Saturday morning. Art and dustin will be here about 8am.
I still have the rocker moulding and mirrors to strip of plastidip and prep.
And i have to work.
Did i metion its hot as berkeley?

It needs to photograph well.
I need it to look good when i walk by it.
The duster and acr need to be mint. This doesn't.
im getting excited now that I have cooled off.

is there paint being sprayed today?
Score! The green looks amazing and should allow quite a few options to match/compliment for a really cool livery.
