much more better
Looks very nice.
What's your plan for this car down the road? Have you been wanting a dedicated race car? Or does your thinking not extend past October?
In reply to TVR Scott :
You've been around here long enough to see me ask the question "what do you want to OWN?" a bunch of times. Its something that i learned during the amc build. I have things in my head screaming to be built. More than enough to last the rest of my life. Only one or two of them have any thoughts of what to do with them. No real life after the build.
This car is one that does have ownership thoughts. I want to own another car i built with dad. I want to own a daily drivable convertible. I want to own a car that turns heads at a cruise night. I want to own a car i can drive to the autocross/dragstrip/track night, put my helmet on, and have fun. That i can drive home afterwards with air conditioning on.
Life after its challenge career will see a radio, 3.4 camaro accessories to put air conditioning back in, power steering column, autometer gauges, re71s, comfortable seats, and whatever has to be done to have a roof.
In other words, this is one of the collection for the long haul. Next to the duster and acr.

Perfect! Your forever-car is looking the part!
Totally with you on the dad/son activities. I got my dad hooked on riding bikes when he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes around when he turned 60. He's 71 now, healthier than he's been in a long time, and we did his first 100 mile ride together back in 2017. Planning another century for the fall. It's been a terrific connection for us.
Michael,
That picture of it in the sun after all the work is done. The green reminds me of Elkhart Green from the early 70's C3 Vette... With the tan interior, it is fantastic. You and your dad have done a wonderful job with the entire build. Very cool.

thanks Mike. I'm really liking the color combination on this car. Even if it does look like completely different colors of green depending on the light.

I get the father/son built cars are hard to get rid of. I have two that I built with my dad, 27 T with blown 392 hemi and 34 roadster with 93 lt1. He passed on in 2015 and both of my boys expect to get them next. Both are driven and continue to have modifications/upgrades made, hotrods are never finished.

Elkhart green is what my early 70's El Camino is painted. Lovely color. Michael's would be very close to that if it had a splash of metallic. Love green cars.
In reply to maschinenbau :
Yeah, green wouldn't be my first choice, but Elkhart is VERY nice.. I don't think I've seen it look bad on anything.

Awesome, but not awesome enough.
Grumpycat.
add wolf on neighboring hilltop, howling at moon. *now* awesome enough?
Now were talkin!!!
If I was doing a Corvette based challenge car I would definitely have to use a mural. Much like that guy that the piece and a Corvair together with a C4. His hood is going to require the Aztec mural. My plan is much simpler for the Miata because it's so much better than a Corvette it doesn't need the mural to bring up its level of Awesomeness.
In all honesty my goal is to match the exterior color and the under hood colors on both the deck lid and Hood in an aesthetically pleasing fashion
Hey mike. I have some chrome tape if ya need to cover that Green Up.
Green really is A Favored Color for Me,And Thw Car Is still awesome.
I like how the white sets off the green.
Are you going to be using white on the exterior of the car as well? White gumballs on the doors for instance.
Exterior white is undetermined. I was trying to tie together the exterior color and the white mechanical areas (underhood, undercar, trunk). Im afraid its starting to look like Santa Claus the miata.....
