That would be fun! Add more lowering slight wheel spacers on the zq8 wheels to fill out the fenders better, tint, hard tonneau cover, and a centrifugal supercharger. Then it would be great

Paint, bay, and interior look amazing. I concur with the Christmas red intake hose, but Challenge budget is what it is. Other than that, you need like 1.5x more tire.

Rustoluem is $.42 a can cheaper at Walmart.
Refuse to shop at Walmart even for challenge budget.

Not a bad idea! Wonder if vinyl dye would stick to silicone? Because i have black dye on the shelf.....
And i do everything in my power to avoid Wal-Mart
Dusterbd13-michael said:The passengers side seat will actually be removed from the car for the challenge. It is not in my budget, even though it was given to me. Fmv of 40 bucks, and i need that money elsewhere.
You probably want to spend some time thinking about how you’ll use/cover the pax floor, and seat rail bolts then. Something that fits in with the theme? Or is that where the Nawz is going to mount?

First off, the car looks AMAZING! You and your Dad have done a terrific job here and should be very proud of what you've accomplished. But since you're asking for us to nit-pick and be overly critical here are my observations/suggestions (some of them you probably already know)
Again, great job. I think you've put together a solid top ten car here. (probably even higher)
Are these gouges in the plastic? They really caught my eye. Perhaps you can sand them smooth or fill somehow?
Honestly you can barely see the towing brackets in the pictures, and it kinda adds to the grassroots appeal of the car. It makes what we do seem achievable for the average car person without a big truck and trailer, which is the whole point of the Challenge. Anyone could borrow their mom's CR-V, hook up, and go have fun at a track. I like that. Especially if you really are flat-towing it to the Challenge.
I'm trying to talk brother Dustin and brother Dallas in the coming to the challenge with me. If they accept I will be able to tell down on a trailer. If they do not I will be flat Towing the car down to Gainesville. And yes those are scratches in the plastic. Any good tips on how to take care of them? This interior needs to photograph well but most of it will be replaced for its life after the challenge to be honest
Is the coil bracket bare steel or aluminim? Maybe a shot of black paint? Thats all I got, it looks amazing.

Heat for the scratches? Don't know, but might work.
Needs me behind the wheel! The only thing i have we talked about and is probably included after the curtains close.

giggity. the fish will look awesome! but im not sure about nemo. i mean, im down with dori, cause im a lot like her, but nemo is just so whiney.
keep it coming yall. most everything thats been pointed out hasn't been paid any attention to by me, even though i knew about it. since it sticks out to y'all, it will stick out to the concourse judges. thanks for helping me make a better car. i really do appreciate it!
also, i sent dad the list for concourse presentation of everything we have touched on the car. it was not a short list. but shorter than i thought it would be for the amount of work it was!

I respectfully disagree, whole heartedly. It's visually distracting clutter, and won't photograph well for the magazine. The challenge, when it's all said and done, is about creating great content for GRM. A top ten car should present well. ( I mean, when's the last time you saw a show car at SEMA sporting a tow bar attachment because it looked good?)
Michael, Even if you have to flat tow the car, please consider removal before competition starts.

That should be sufficient to get us accused of drug use or insanity
Was surfing around the Miata.net site and found your thread on MC for this swap
the clutch is working now with a 7/8 master in stock location and stock geometry. so, problem solved! hopefully this helps someone else down the road.
Do you have any information that might alllow me to source the same MC? Any details on fitting it would also be useful.
How much fabrication to mount it to the Miata pedal studs
What did you do for a push-rod?
Anything else?
off to search in this thread in cse you have already answered this stuff.
Pete
7/8 tilion master. Cut ears to make mounting holes into slots to fit the miata stud spacing. Used a couple of nuts to space the master out from the firewall a smidge so i didn't have to enlarge the factory hole. Threaded tge tilton rod into the miata clutch rod ckevis (different thread pitches, but crossthreaded is as good as locktite!)
Piece of nicopp withan inverted female flare to a male 4 an adapter to the gm slave

Wait, what? Did you need to go through all the shenanigans I did to make it release right? Do you have a high engagement point? If not, I'm doing that!
Pedal engages at top of travel, but passes the ziptie test at full depression. I should probably bleed it, because i never have. May make it better.
But, yup. That simple.
Yea, the top of travel thing is what annoys me.
Hinson supercars modifies tilton mc to have the correct thread pitch for mazda....

Thanks. Feel like I made you jump through hoops for nothing. Found a ( possible) solution that could be executed with parts from Local NAPA and going ahead with that. 1986 Toyota landcruiser is a pretty good match with a 3/4" bore and available by tomorrow. Fingers crossed it works for me! If not, back here I will be!
