When putting on the handles make sure to use a nail or punch to set your mounting hole location prior to drilling. The drill bits tend to walk before biting on that smooth material and it's really easy to end up with crooked or slightly mis-placed handles.

I've never cut a hole in a counter top for a sink and I'm a little nervous about it. A practice run with a leftover piece of plywood has put me at ease. The plumbing is done and we have a sink for tonight.
The cabinets were adjusted and screwed together and the first bank of six drawers assembled. We're going to have so many drawers.
I'm not going to know where I am the next time I walk into your kitchen...
They make down cut blades for jigsaw for laminates. I usually masking tape the area then draw on that and leave in place to protect top from saw.
In reply to dculberson :
Going to dig into the scrap pile and make a jig so that all of the positions match.
In reply to Patrick :
Good tip about the blades, I did not know that. We're actually doing a wood countertop so I shouldn't have to worry about the chipping.
I made a deal with myself this morning. It was ok to go work on the Accord for a couple of hours only if I could finish the trim that I can finish now and move the compressor out of the kitchen, AND finish the drawers and doors on the cabinets. Had to do a bit of it after dinner, but done and done.

Your kitchen looks great. Are you going to have uppers?
Turns out the white MB wagon that appeared on my street is R320 CDI, not a R63 AMG.
I saw your post to a guy in Spring, restoring a car. He is using a friend's very large shop. He helped rearrange his friend's shop to have a corner for his work. I thought I had it bookmarked but did not. Don't know enough details to search GRM. Can you give me the thread name?
In reply to ronniejay :
tried scanning your posts ... and found it "MOMS 280Z".
In reply to ronniejay :
Glad you found that thread, it's a good one.
Glad you got to squeeze in some time with the Accord. Kitchen looks close, besides countertops and shelving what's left?

Bank of cabinets left of the stove in that picture. Overhead cabinets. Trim the doors and windows. Countertops. Backsplash. New stove/oven. I recently introduced Mrs. Deuce to the phrase "90% done, 70% left to go".
Ok, didn't realize you were doing upper cabinets too.... I was wondering about the stove since it had come up earlier in the thread. Yep, 90% done and 70% to go sounds about right
The final 10% is always at least 50% of the effort.
We just finished a counter top replacement and back splash install, what a pain in the back that was, never again will I do a tile back splash. Getting ready to embark on bathroom renovations, unless someone buys my house.

We've considered lighting it on fire and watching it burn as a valid approach to remodeling.
My wife is beyond understanding. Last week I threw the sink counter and cabinet in the yard and haven't touched them. She hasn't said a word.
This all got knocked/sawed apart and added to the appropriate piles out back. I did appreciate the spacers for sink mounting.
Caulked more trim painted the window boxes.
Tomorrow I'll get trim for the windows and paint that. Next batch of cabinets will get picked up Friday.
Mrs. Deuce had Friday off so it's date day! Drop the kids at school, run to Ikea to pick up the next batch of cabinets, assemble cabinets, hang cabinets, pick up kids. Great date day.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
it's a good thing you found mrs. deuce before internet dating... 'cause I'm not sure how well this section would have gone for you:
Q: Please Describe A Great Date
A: Something, Something, Assembling Ikea Furniture, Something, Something

I assume you are going to post some before pics at the end of this project. Been locking back for where you commented that we like this old layout and placement of things. Am I missing a GRM search method that work?
Does duececollegekid follow this thread, or will she be blown away at THANKSGIVING break return?
Festool 2018 roadshow coming up Monday, 11/19 at Circle Saw, 610 and Ella, 8 to noon.

Now that you mention it, that would be a spectacular way to weed out the wrong type of women for me.

I'll dig up some before photos and do a side by side when we get it done. Done being a relative term. We're still undecided on the final number of overhead cabinets and what we're going to do for backsplash. My wife has embraced this whole "plan as we go along" style of doing things. She really is perfect. Kid#1 is getting pictures from Mrs. Deuce but I'm sure she'll be amazed. I'm amazed.
Mrs. Deuce is the sealer in the family and since today was countertop day, she was sealing like crazy.
Countertops are cut to length, the sink is in, again, and three coats of sealant put on. We finally picked out a new stove and that will be here Wednesday. Once that gets here I'll install it and then adjust the left side cabinets and countertop to make sure the gaps are perfect. Then Shelves and doors on that side.
Not only does this look GREAT with the countertops in, I also noticed that all the receptacles and switches in this shot have covers on them.... nice job. So, new oven..... is the old one moving to the Grosh?
In reply to HikerDan :
I still need to adjust the outlets themselves to get everything square and flush, but I'm basically a reformed man.
Made a couple of jigs for drawer pulls and door handles.
I don't think I need to get Mrs. Deuce anything for Christmas this year. I've never seen her so happy about a gift as she was opening and closing the drawers.
Where is your countertop from?
In reply to Patrick :
Home Depot. We knew we wanted to give butcher block a try, and due to math we needed slightly over 8 feet to go from the wall to the fridge. For some reason everywhere else had countertops listed and exactly 8 feet and 10 feet and the ones at HD were 8'2" which gave us enough room that we didn't have to buy a 10 footer and cut it down.

In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
How do you cut and connect the two pieces of butcher block in the corner? Are you supposed to miter it or butt joint at the corners?
I really like the look of butcher block.
