For sure. At our old house we had one in the basement. Not a bathroom, just a random toilet and a shower. In Cleveland we call it a Pittsburgh shower. Maybe in Pittsburgh they call it a Cleveland shower(?). Anyway, it was the best shower in the house because I always used it when I was the most disgusting and felt best to be clean afterwards. Having one in the shop would be even better.

Can you post a wide angle picture that shows the car in the shop? I'm also looking at building a 20x30 and I'm trying to get a feel for how much space there would be around the car.

when i get a car back in here, sure. With tools, benches and boxes along both walls i still have plenty of room to walk around the car on either side. The ladder to the loft does cut into the space in front of the car, im considering doing some kind of hoist and hinge setup on the ships ladder so i can pull it up and out of the way to get another 3' of space if needed
Got some stuff done last night. Little corner space for electronics projects (excuse the mess)
got the rest of the display racks up
and built a really crude stand for the belt grinder. This was formerly mounted on my bench but I wanted it to be free standing. It's a bit wobbly so I might put an old wheel full of concrete on the back to stabilize it

Working on some curtains this weekend to keep the dust out of the loft
I swept the floor clean and laid out the fabric so I could mark it for cutting and hemming
after goofing around with a straight edge and grease pencil, I realized I could just use a chalk like
I hemmed the top with my flower power brother sewing machine and did a test fit. I made the curtain rods out of 1/4" round and some 3/8" thread rod.
Doing a little brewing today, decided to upgrade the temperature measurement to the 21st century. I had a D1 mini and a MAX6675 module laying around so a quick flash with ESPHome and I've got a thermometer setup that I can check on wirelessly from anywhere! Yay HomeAssistant!!
Finally got the gutters installed. I'm still waiting for the concrete contractor to come back to back fill around the slab so I can call for my final inspection
After months of harassing him, the concrete guy finally got the fill dirt dropped this week and finished the grading. Who knows when he will show up to finish the concrete for the driveway but at least for now I can call for my final inspection!

What is the temperature range of this setup? I've got a ceramic kiln I fire with some regularity and have wondered about setting up a system to pair with the k-type thermocouples. They run 4-50mV and up to 1300F. I'd love to set up something similar.

It's not the MAX6675 that's the limit, it's the type of TC wire you use. K type TC is good to like 1250C, for higher temps you need something with fiberglass sheathing not this plastic stuff I'm using

do your lathe a favor, and put a cover over it when you not using it, as grinding dust in a lathe is not at all healthy for it.

I PASSED FIRST TRY!!!
I was fully expecting to get a punch list of stuff to fix but he just gave me a couple of small items and passed it anyway. Glad to have that hurdle out of the way. Now we can get down and dirty on some projects!

This is something I had planned from the beginning that I really wanted to incorporate.
aside from cars, I love bicycles. I had the opportunity to work at a bike shop in college and aside from the lousy pay, I loved the job. I built a freestanding repair stand years ago and while it served me well when we lived in apartments, a fixed stand was always in my dreams for a permanent shop.
I welded up this coupler yesterday out of 2.25x0.120" DOM and some 2x0.25" flat stock. The locking coupler I turned and threaded from 3/4 bar stock. Shot it with some wrinkle black
I scored this Pedros clamp on eBay for $40 last year and it's just been in the box waiting
an old AMC 304 head bolt, a knob from the parts bin and a quick shot with the tig and we have a locking lever
works a treat! Too bad none of the bikes need fixing right now...
I'll make a nicer hook eventually but for now I just put a couple screws to hold the clamp out of the way when not in use

Don't see so many Barra sixes in the US- Ive never seen one personally. I do, however, love the Falcon six it's deived from.

I like your setup more and more every time I check your progress. I also worked at a bike shop in college and would still as a fun weekend gig if I had the time. I was the only dummy that actually enjoyed working on the old stuff that came in (mostly 80's Miyatas and 3 spds) so I always got the fun stuff.

Its actually not a Barra, its the precursor to the Barra. Kind of like a Mod motor to a Coyote i guess
Looks great! What wall height and roof porch did you use? What made you go with foam instead of standard insulation? And is that a 12 foot door? Trying to build the same thing in Lake Wylie!

I would highly recommend the foam insulation guys (The Austin Company, i think they are in Pineville) as well as my garage door guy, Tye Helms at Nabors Garge Doors. I would order the door before you even pour the slab, mine took 3 months to get here
