Today, was an adventure. Miyuki got her first taste of real winter, I almost punched a Walmart employee, and miyuki guest starred in the resurrection and re-death of the Mini. miyuki and brownie in respite, playing Eskimo. You can make out mx6 #1 in the background. Not shown is the Mini. You'll see that later. Miyuki has no problems with winter. She fired right up, and had no traction problems. I keep forgetting I don't have abs in that car, so its a bit slidey. But she carried myself and mini mndsm about with flair And grace. We went to two art stores that did not have giant red oil based sharpie paint markers, and Walmart. While at Walmart, my son sits on a bike. With training wheels. Its clear he's not going anywhere. But Walmart chud walks up anyhow under the guise of being friendly.
"You finding everything alright?" He asks, basically breathing on my shoulder.
"I'm fine, he's (motioning to my kid)stoked on this hot wheels bike. He likes the rev thing".
" oh, ok. Cause well, I don't want him riding it around the store because he might get hurt".
Dude. He's been on the damn thing for almost 10 minutes. Your stupid ass has been watching me the entire time. If you want my kid off the berkeleying bike, tell me you want him off the berkeleying bike. So I tell Gibson to get off the bike because he (motioning to the chud) doesn't want us messing with them. Chud, knowing I could jam him up, tries to back pedal.
"Oh it's OK if he sits on ..." I cut him off "no, I get it dude. Gibson let's go". berkeleyer.
Walk over to the hotwheels aisle, and am greeted with this so that happened. Get back into the car, and decide to bail because I'm spoiling for a fight and I don't think the wife will approve of having to fetch me from the cops.
Few hours goes by, and the phone rings. Its building management. Apparently someone has a wild hair up their ass and complained about the mini. Its sat there for a year. My guess is one of the other residents got busted for a E36 M3 box and decided to drag everyone else down with them.
In any event, I have to move the damn thing. Enter- princess caterpee. (The ms3 has somehow earned this name recently. ) I figure its got the biggest alternator, the battery with the biggest CCA rating, and worst case scenario, I know it will drag the mini far enough to consider it moved. The mino does run, so my hope was to get enough juice to it with the old battery from the prism acting as a medium to get it running on the alternator did you know there's a manual hatch release under the back seat of a Cooper s so you can get to the battery in case its dead? I do now! I wouldn't have needed it, but the hood was frozen shut because Minnesota! In any event, all we got was clicks. Even with me standing on princess caterpee, the mini would not crank on her own.
I need to take a brief sidebar here. My wife is about as useful as a screen door in a submarine when it comes to a second set of hands working on a car. I tell her to pull the hood latch on the mini, she doesn't know where it is. On a car she's owned for 7 years and added oil and things to countless times. I tell her to remove the battery from it. This literally means pick it up out of the car, as I have disconnected it already. She doesn't do it because she doesn't know what to do. She leeps needing to take breaks to go back inside.because she's cold. She freezes in 100* weather, its winter in mn, she just put a full snow suit on out 3 year old so he could be a pain in the ass too, and she wore a berkeleying sweatshirt outside. She is also terrible at staying out of the way. At one point, I told her to go the berkeley back inside (my exact words) because I would have gotten better response from a snow man. /rant.
Back on topic- I have to decide what to do. That's when I remember, while miyuki is a factory 26r battery, I got her with a 35r. The mini was born with a 35r.I can make something work. Armed with a 10mm 1/4" drive, (I have an assorted 10mm setup at a moments notice for these reasons) I went ahead and yoinked miyukis battery, that I'd just purchased in Indianapolis. Dropped her in the mini, hit the go key, and sure as E36 M3, it rolled right up. Corolla wins again!
The mini safely moved, I yank out the battery, and throw it back into miyuki. True to form she fires right up. God bless the ae101.
Moral of the story, my wife and the word car in the same sentence are a recipe for disaster. In the meantime, anyone wanna buy a cooper s with a spun bearing? It'll drive onto your trailer. Has low oil pressure. There is glitter in the pan. 1500$.
