I might know where that guy's notes are hidden and I saved all the pictures...
Can't wait to see the s10 wearing #13 at the challenge.
I know how to make an s10 handle thanks to this secret receipe I found online .
Holy crap. The Sonoma is amazing. If you're done with that after the challenge, you know I have a minitruck thing
Got to spend a few hours in the garage today, and tried to make the most of it. Finished disassembling RF corner, pulled the leaf, and laid everything out as a “before” shot:
Then I degreased the area of the front frame rails I needed to mark for cutting. Then I cut them. It was fun.
Then my neighbor brought me some beef nachos from Los Tres Amigos because they messed up his order, and asked if I could help put up a basketball net for his son. They’re by far my favorite neighbors, even without bringing me food, so you know I had to be my brother’s keeper.
Then I loaded the frame section, crossmember, and spring shields into my sick new truck and spent $7 at the coin-op car wash making them less gross. Below is yet another “before” pic.
My “after” pix for those pieces do not do them justice. Not perfect, but almost.
Tomorrow after work we celebrate Father’s Day with my in-laws, so no garage time again until Tuesday.
Scraped off the heavy stuff, then sprayed Simple Green on a steel wool pad and applied some elbow grease. Rinsed in hot water, then washed with dish soap and rinsed with hot water again. C4 was not chosen only for its affordability. These parts are light and they look good when they’re cleaned up.

I think you may be the only guy on the forum who has a 2 car garage that actually FITS two cars at once.
Nice!
Ahem.
Stampie made me come here..... after reading this entire thread, I have a question. Are you building a car or trying to get a gig as a hand / glove model? I can’t tell........

Wow this comment was 5 pages and over a month ago and still no welding. Gotta be a world record for longest Challenge car build thread without welding!

I regret the forum only allows me to give this post a single thumbs up vote.
Y'all have to remember that he's not actually going to build this thing into something that is remotely approaching a challenge car.
Stampie, there’s some math coming up that’s gonna be beyond counting to 21, so you’ll want to skip this post. Don’t worry, I’ll bring crayons for you in October.
Spent this evening recycling used motor oil, ATF, and the old C4 battery. Got a $10 credit from O’vance PepZone which I promptly spent on a 40 lb bag of oil-dry. Then I threw away a bunch of crap, organized some other crap, and let my mind wander around the garage a bit. I’ve been thinking about brake balance, specifically about how front-biased MONZORA will be if I just carry over the C4 brakes with no changes. Don’t tell Stampie, but I’m not going to walk you through the math, I’m just jumping straight to the bottom line:
That’s a C4 front rotor and caliper on a C4 rear suspension. Bracket will be simple to fab, and will be pretty well balanced in high-G braking.
In reply to Daylan C :
No but it has the magnet strip in the flat bottom, which sticks to the caliper bracket mounting surface. With that, I can measure gaps without a third hand.
In reply to RacetruckRon :
Funky duct tape = effective tool identifier when kid has to being her own tools to mission work.
