Super stiff mounts...gives new meaning to the term "Butt Dyno"

as in, "your butt dyno feel this thing idling at a red light" lol

Good thing i don't have a spare big cam to put in this thing...

Though i'm thinking of re-doing my side mounts with the same 94duro stuff to see how bad it is with my big cam.

Yeah something like that. It means it's big enough that it destroys your valvetrain after 3/4 of a 1/4 mile run, right?

Well, its a V6, right? So a 3/4 cam from a V8 would have enough lobes for a 6.... ;)

Noo..... V6 MX6s suck.

This is a turbo 4 banger.

As seen here. Think "Turbo dodge," but better. (Awaits boos and hisses)

Don't need no stinkin' valvetrain. Gets in the way of boost flow.

In reply to Swank Force One:

The fact that it is cross-flow makes it better than the old T-D's right off the bat!

Now compared to the later DOHC turbo motors? Nah, you'll have to back that up with some data :)

I'm convinced that the DOHC motors don't exist. Never ever seen one in person. But on the other hand, i've seen at least 20 F2Ts.

To put this another way, i've never come across a DOHC Turbo mopar i couldn't blow into the weeds.

So.... the title of this thread is entirely 100% incorrect.

This car has NEVER run correctly. The head gasket has been blown for years. I have a suspicion that it had blown 2-3 years ago, looked like it was leaking oil externally. (It was. Turns out it was ingesting coolant and oil into the cylinder as well. And some mixing going on.)

Couple that with everything else i found upon teardown prepping for the $2013 Challenge (that i obviously never made), and i would have scrapped the car if it weren't for the fact i was trying to make the event. This thing was completely hosed. The entire front end was destroyed, though i imagine at least 50% of it was from a pothole i nose-dived into late last month. The driver's side tow hook that hit the pavement was twisted about 45 degrees, and it happened to be the driver's side hub bearing, ball joint, and tie rod(s) that were the worst offenders. As well as the driver's side trans crossmember that was no longer attached to the front of the car.

The really scary part about it all was that the car still drove pretty well, despite having no business being on the road at all.

Anyways... i got the car pretty much back together in time, then found a huge oil leak, threw in the towel.

Spoonpigeon came up on Saturday to give me a hand, at which point we realized that like a tired moron, i had put RTV on a metal gasket that goes on the backside of the timing plate, which is a no-no.

Fixed it. No more leaks.

Drove it around the block on Saturday. There's some bad noises from the front end, but i'm thinking now it's some bind from the Ground Controls that i'm unsure how to fix. Beyond that, the car is completely horrifying again, but worse than it's ever been. (Even though i left the toast bottom end in it for now.) The built head i've been working on for years had a much bigger impact than i was expecting and unfortunately, has rendered the damn thing almost undrivable when it comes to street use.

Let's just say that it's hard to get started without a burnout when the slightest throttle blip nets you 3500rpms. And then hard to keep traction after that when you're building 8psi in 2nd gear by 2000rpms. This is NOT a small turbo, either.

Once sorted, this is a 400whp+ setup, i can feel it.

And unfortunately, it also seems that i've completely ruined yet another awesome street car.

I think this just means that youre really on the right track with the beast. Its fighting you, but youre winning. Sometimes winning means losing. And sometimes to lose you have to win. Sometimes youre the bear, and sometimes youre the Charmin. Now, I may not know what it sounds like Im talking about, but Ive never been surer of one thing...nothing is over until you decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And neither is this build!!!

Oh it's not over....

V710s are going on the car for $2014. Resulting tire money will go to a pair of DRs.

And i'm making the move to corm juice.

I'm going for it.

You know I'm sitting here reading ~400wheel HP & V710's and all I can think about is busted H-type trans bits all over place the first time you launch this thing. Right?

I'd be curious what you did to the head and if you were able to test much, like flow bench work and all that jazz. Also, 8 PSI @ 2000 RPM and this isn't the stock IHI? Sounds like you've got a year to get this thing debugged.

The F2T's have ridiculiously soft valve springs(Floating over 4-4500). Dual valvesprings can be swapped from the B2000's. I'm planning on swapping mine over the winter. I can't wait to see his car. Hopefully I'll have my MS issues sorted an ld the car lightened considerably. Ben, drop your engine & suspension in that clean Shelby you picked up!

No testing other than butt dyno. Huge ports, manifolds matched through. B2000 valve springs, and a Delta 272 cam. The difference is not subtle.

The factory valve springs are so soft you can compress them half an inch just between your thumb and forefinger.

Also, I have a few spare transmissions. Never know til you try. Internet is telling me it should be fine, though. 3rd seems to be the weak point.

I wonder how much the cam alone improves power. 5th was the weak point in the transmissions I dealt with. There's always the E153 swap if you really want to get crazy, but that would be hard to do on a Challenge budget.

I really do hope you're able to get some good time in tuning what you've got at this point, it seems like a pretty cool project.
