Best compliment a neon has ever had!

Saw it clean and in the sun walking out of the church this morning. It really did turn out nice. Especially since it's not a car i really want to own.
Nice ACR. I have wanted a 1st Gen ACR for a while though I am not sure what I would do with it. That and my wife would have a fit if I bought another Neon or anything else at this point.
The white one the last few pages has been about is an r/t.
The acr is next, starting with a rotisserie....
I honestly thought the r/t was small, nimble, and quick.
Then i drive the challenge car to the gas station.
This thing feels like a 70s land yacht in comparison.
Threads like this get me outside my usual rut and learning about cars that I haven't ever messed with. Here in rust free Texas, you just virtually never see any sort of Neon on the roads anymore.
Most if them died due to neglect and age. Mu h like both of mine did. Just abuse, miles, neglect, and years. Here in the south they never rusted, but were essentially worthless.
If you want to go all cousin eddie on one, let me know. The acr is going to be challenge budget concourse king.....

I don't know about the 1st gens but if it's like the 2nd gen there is a big handling difference between the ACR & everything else. Or at least that's what I have been told. Honestly I am probably one of the only 2nd gen Neon owners that has never driven a regular one or even a RT. And I have been in the Neon game since 02. I still have my original 01 ACR & a few years back got an built 02 ACR sleeper so it's suspension is still original. My 01 is currently getting dialed in for the autox season. It doesn't do road duty anymore.

Correct on all counts!
However, to put it in perspective: the challenge car is a 2000 miata with a gm 3400v6 swapped in, seam welding, chassis stiffened, and coilovers. Freaking mental on every level. Short of full race prep, theres no way for a neon to compete with it viscerally. Im certain that the lapis acr (when i get it rebuilt) will lay down autocross times close to the miata. But feel completely different doing it.

1g acr vs everything else is similar to the 2g in that since. Diffrent animal.
car has been sold to professor brap. It heads to ohio this week. Its a FUN car, but i need something different for a daily in my line of work. Im already missing it, and it hasn't even left yet.
However, the goodies that i wanted for the acr are still here, and its getting closer to go time on that project.
Itd make 1s. Its a peg leg.
Its alsp been paid for, and i ain't gonna beat someone elses car.
But ill see what i can do with the miata....

Ill take the bet, ill rip some 11's right off the transporter ;)
the r/t has been sold, and shipped to its new home in ohio at the land of wayward fwd mopars. A VERY good home. It will hopefully be a gastropod eligible car this year. Its definitely in budget as purchased.
I already kind of miss it. But it wasn't the car i want to own. The acr is.

Or are we crazy if we will never sell them. My 2 second gen ACRs will probably never be sold as long as I can still drive or breathe.
