By 1976 pickup trucks had seat belts as standard equipment...did someone remove the old ones?

Yep. IIRC, Arizona didn't require trucks to use seatbelts until sometime mid 2000's

Trucks outside the rust belt are worth the trip!

Nice! Following along. I'm envious of the "fly and drive" and yeah, don't worry about the carb. As mentioned before they are tough to make perfect, but fairly easy to make good enough to get you home.

Also very interested in what you have planned to make this one handle!

Inlaws just got it home. I now have owned 3 consecutive generations of GM trucks.73-87, 88-98(GMT400) and 99-06(GMT800).

Also realized the difference between her family and mine. Mine would have sent 2 dozen photos to me by now of the new truck. Hers lectured me that it was a sting and they were going to get arrested.

Wow. our DMV can't be bothered to get up from their desks most of the time, much less plan and operate a "sting."

Carbs really aren't that complicated, it's more or less a self filling bucket of gas that the engine drinks from via a few different straws depending on how far the throttle is open, no magic, just pressure differential. That and getting port fuel injection (because berkeley Toilet Bowl Injection) on a SBC for cheap is kinda tricky.

10th of this month or next? Next absolutely. This... you will havea long drive. (1761 miles to be exact)

Also, talked to a friend of mine that works for the BMV. Apparently Indiana got smart and as of Jan 1 we can have LEO of the state the vehicle is in fill out the paperwork and send that with the title and have registration/plates ready to drive it home.

BTW, if it wasn't for my Restoril I would not be sleeping at all.

SO... why are all the 17x10 wheels ugly as sin? I can find these in 9.5 at least. I really don't want to go bigger than 17. Those wrapped in some 275/40/17 would be pretty nice.

Aren't C4 corvette wheels 17x10? The ZR1 ones could look pretty cool.

It needs the push-bar at a minimum. Hell Bob, you should make one out of carbon fiber!

Vette wheels from a c4 are 17x9.5

Id look at mustang bullitt wheels. 17x8, will sort of fit a 275/40/17, look like the torque thrust, and are cheap. Just need some 1 inch pattern adapters and you get 4.5 inch backspacing that these trucks need. Should be able to get all in minus tires for 300 bucks.

I have the bullit wheels on my Mullet Truck but I redrilled the hubs since I didnt want any added width to the truck.

There are a bunch of cars and trucks with the 5X5 (127mm) bolt pattern, just have to look at what the center bore of the wheels are as compared to the hub

I'm waiting on wheels until I get it home and find out how much other stuff it truly needs at this point. But I'm thinking about the 275/40/18's and 18x9.5's I listed above. All I know is that the tiny front wheels and big fat rear wheels look has to go.

I keep surfing the bay of ee's and got to stop. any and everything one could want is there. like a 4 wheel 13" Baer brake kit with adjustable prop valve. looked pretty. This is not going to be cheap is it?
