So like I said. Today I purchased a 1962 Metropolitan for $500 It's a hardtop. The interior has been restored and is very nice. It runs and drives. It has some pretty serious surface rust on the rear quarters but I plan to restore it starting this summer part by part piece by piece.

1962 was the last year of production and it is 1 of 412 US models.

I have yet to figure out the photos on here but it is in my garage thing.

Ill be vacationing and racing (not succesfully) in it as soon as its going. As i always say...If you don't drive it SELL IT!

Have to host the photos on a photo hosting site, like Flikr or some other site. Then you can link the photos over.
FYI, Metros have the distinction of being accepting into antique auto clubs and British auto clubs with the Austin drivetrain in it.

Did i fail to mention i also bought a brand new 2013 model trailer yesterday as well? It's a 16 ft dual axle with brakes. Also snagged some casters to make my welding table rotate.

On the way home i stopped to show off a car and joked that i had bought everything i wanted but an anvil and my friend sold me his!! He also gave me a sheet of stainless steel to make... I don't know what I'll make but it's neat.

Sadly it is sleeting today. I can't even get her off the trailer and in the dry. Anvil needed a little cleanup anyways...

Man, that thing was a steal, been on my bucket list for some time but even at twice the price all the ones I find are basket cases. Good score there.

Too cool. I'd love to find a deal on one of these. It'd look great next to my 96.

Just for reference, buy "How to Power Tune the A-Series Engine" by David Vizard. Most of it will translate to your car. Its a B-series MG engine, but it all still works, and many MGB parts bolt right in, like Dual SU carbs, and many aftermarket cams, etc...

I'm jealous. Cool car with exceptional power-to-weight possibilities!!!

I trailered it to TN to the Metropolitan experts, also good friends now. I've joined a MET club as well. They are going through the engine, trans and brakes. Also they are near a welder that is going to stiffen up my subframe.

When I get it back I will be glassing the floorboard for sound deadening and preservation. Also finish body work and paint. Then my GF will be driving it full time.

Im excited to have two amazing classics now. However I really need a more practical DD.

I finally finished painting the ford today after work. Now I can get the truck out of the garage (its been taking up two bays with bed off)

Hopefully I'll be getting the Met back the weekend after Memorial Day. We will be shooting her with the engine out then shipping it back for final work. The engine is complete and looks great. It's in my updates.

Don't worry though, I won't be bored in the meantime. I'm planning on working on my 73 Chevy Dually ex tow truck in between and finish her after the Met is completed.

Darn GRM I'm really wanting a G body after these.

Painted and rockers/firewall done. Getting car back complete minus final paint back next weekend.

Sarah is gonna drive her back. I'm taking my truck and trailer just in case. 150 miles is a lot to trust a fresh rebuilt old car...

We drove it home Saturday. 120 miles. Burned 3.5 gallons of gas. This is the most fun you can have on 4 wheels with less than 100hp.

From the pics in your rides it looks like it's powered by a booger

Haha. That's Austin Healey green. That in line 4 is a lot stronger than you'd ever imagine though. We've put 300 miles on it in the last week before I do the paint and body work.
