You're a South Carolina native, right? Seems like Corvette Sumter would be the perfect name for your new project.

You know it doesn't have a name. We've been calling it C3 or Vette. But we need an unusual name. How do you follow up Riggamort, Lil Bastard, or Suprang with just C3?  I'm thinking Italian.

If it were a C4 for street driving I  would recommend the name Jorts.

Oil pan is even with the headers. Looks like an aftermarket pan.

Good news is those are the only clearance issues I see.

I love the look of C3's.  Seeing this has me cruising Craigslist and FB looking for projects (finish the C4....finish the C4).

I sent the following bad idea to my my son who is all into JDM.

How about we swap a KL-ZE into a C3.  The KL sound at 7k rpm in the C3 would be so cool.  Then you pop the hood and tick off the faithful.  But nothing like taking 200-250lbs off the nose.

oh well.  Finish the C4... Finish the C4

PS... In for suspension mods

We'll try and take pictures of the suspension this evening. I'm going to call Kevko about their pans today.

Seems like as good a reason as any to jump straight to a dry sump setup.

Can I use your card for it?  Talked to Kevko. Worse case is I'll gain an inch. Best case is the current one is lower than stock and I'll gain at least a couple of inches. Going to see if I can compare it to the bellhousing tonight and get an idea.

Let's be honest here, now that you have the C3 you're not going to touch any other projects besides the Suburban(for whatever occasional things it needs) and Little Stampie's Miata. So you can totally find a dry sump setup once you sell off the Z & T parts, and whatever else I've forgotten about.

Got some videos for you.

Here's it at first start:

And the exhaust at idle.

Cool videos eh?  Yeah they suck because some DA forgot to put his camera in video mode.

But I did realize that in time to get a true idle video.

Little smoke out of the left bank. Takes a while to warm up and idle and then I flooded it again getting it off the trailer. Going to ponder that.

Sorry for the broken promise to the suspension guys but I swear tomorrow I'll get those pictures.

SKJSS tricked me to go back out looking for something he thought he'd left in Dug. So I got some suspension pics.

Tubular upper control arms on the front.

Upper control arm brace.

Brake ducting

Rear coil over, tubular lower adjustable control arm.

Posi rear with tow hook brace.

Rear sway bar tight on the tire.

I just ordered $600 in oil pan, pump, pick up and gasket.  It's sexy but I'll wait until I get it in my hands to show y'all pictures.

I'm glad you're happy with it so far.  That engine sound is fabulous!  Did it fire right up when you jumped it?  Like I said, the original owners are fabulous people so I felt confident it was a good car.

It's a little fiddly. I need to quit messing around with that battery and just buy a new one.  I want to check the timing on it and I need to talk to National Carb about what's the best setup for it. But yeah I'm happy. All the stuff I'm doing is what you told me were issues or stuff I expected trying to make it more streetable.

I would think keeping the deep pan would be better for more oil in the system. I'd raise the car and get taller tires.

Or get an accusump with the stock pan for the additional oil capacity.

Remind me, roll bar or harness bar? I think you said harness. Any plans for a proper roll bar then?

In reply to vwcorvette (Forum Supporter) :

The one I'm getting can hold 5 qt vs the stock 4 and the deeper pan in the same class holds 6. For my purposes I think it'll be fine. Plus it has other trick stuff.

I'm stubborn and when I want something (like retain the lowered height) I'll spend good money and time trying to get it. What I'm doing is trying to get the lowest items higher so that hopefully I can retain the same tire sizes but if need to I'll go up a little. I'm hoping for 3.5 inches of ground clearance from what I'm doing.

It has a harness bar. I'm good with just that for now. Might do roll bar later but more for stiffing it up than anything.
