Now to see if there is a really powerful ECU you can add to match all that new performance...

Well this has escalated quickly.

Nocones bought a serious ECU to go with his Serious engine.

What is it?  A Haltech Nexus R3.  It's a combination ECU, PDM, Data longger with 6 axis Accelerometer, wideband O2 controller and more, all within one device with 1 wiring harness.

It wasn't cheap, I struggled to spend the money but everyone I have talked to with experience said, "Just get a Haltech".

It's not a dis of the SpeedyEFI, my MG has a MS.  But I've not set one of these up before and I'm trying to do it in 2 months before UTCC.  The Haltech software and knowledge base hopefully will help me shortcut the process, and the opportunities for maintaining near OEM levels of engine protection logic.

I intend to use the SpeedyEFI in the future on other builds.  It seems like an excellent product and I really look forward to using it when I have more time for something a little more of a Project.

So with a bit more spend the original LMP360-EVO goals are impossible.  That said the performance on offer here is unlike anything I could of achieved with the original EVO plan.  So I'm moving the goalposts.  The LMP360-EVOII.

I will make a new thread fully documenting the process for the Haltech installation.  I will still keep information here but I imagine people will enjoy coming along as I learn all about the Nexus R3 product.

Super happy with my Haltech Elite 1500, it really is money well spent. I think you'll be pleased with the Nexus.

See you at LRP this weekend!

looks like nocones made it to Limerock...

he got featured on the livestream (I'll try to find the exact timestamp later).  Good representation of the sound of the car as they were tracking it.

currently down to a 1:03.670, and able to do 7 laps (he managed 11 laps in the first session).  Dunno if that means cooling has gotten better (looks like the sidepods got rejiggered a bit between Autobahn and LRP).

I look forward to hearing the debrief when he gets back; and am more than a tad bummed that back-to-school means I had to stay home and not make my way up to Lime Rock.

The livestream is still running so timestamps haven't settled, but if you seek back to the drift segment and then forward to the time attack segment (with the orange logo in the upper-right), nocones is running in the 2nd group.

Looks like he's out now in the last session, and was out in the first session of the day.

Update: Went back in and wasn't on camera much.

Yeah, was hoping to see him live a bit, but only managed to start watching as he was going through the last turn and into the pits :(

Watching the footage, your car was so easy to pick out just due to the exhaust note. I know people have given you grief over it but it is truly unique.

Thanks guys.  I'm still processing the weekend.  It was great for the car to run pretty much without issue for as long as I wanted.  I was the one pulling into the pits the car wasn't making me.

Lime Rock is an absolute amazing track.   Such fun to drive and you never get a rest.

Once again response to the car was overwhelming.   So many people came out and at least 20 over the weekend made the comment that seeing LMP360 run was the only reason they came to the event.

I cannot recommend a Gridlife Event enough.  If you are going to make 1 automotive event a year, make it the GRM $2000 challenge..  but if you have a 2nd weekend make it a Gridlife event.

There will be many pictures I share, lots of lenses from way more talented then me photographers were pointed at the car, including Larry Chen.

But I will leave you with this fantastic shot from the Lime Rock Park official photographer.

I tried so hard to make this a hot link but I could not link directly to the FB photo.  It's part of this post

Honestly, had I known, I would have been down there offering pit support for the weekend. I would love to see the EVO in person.

I thought I would circle back around to some analysis.

I've got a spreadsheet "build up" of the aero on nocone's LMP360, where I break out the "base" car's Ax, Downforce and Drag; and then separately calculate the individual sections of the front elements (which is summed together for 'front foil' terms), the rear elements, and the tunnels.

I've tweaked a couple of values from my original predictive build up from last year, owing to the observation that the front end doesn't seem to be making as much downforce in comparison to the rear, that change means the 'drag due to lift' term drops down, which I've compensated for with an increase in "base" drag for the front and rear foils (technically I could have made this increase in "base car" drag coefficient, but decided to make them in the foils).

The results mean that the sheet was pretty close to correct on the terms 'out of the box'...

which, considering that the Ax (cross sectional area), and Cd of the "base" car are effectively WAG's, and this is all a bunch of Napkin Sketching... it makes me pretty chuffed.

it's also easy to add a second tweak to see what the "new" Vmax of the LMP360 would be if nocones dropped the no motor in, without any changes to the aero package for UTCC: ~135mph vs. 110.

I think though, that there's an path to get the car's drag down and Vmax up, in time for UTCC.

tweaked some of the numbers up after getting a PM from nocones

Real bad about updating lately.  Sorry.  I will get caught up soon.

But here is another banging picture I found on the internets.

is there enough occupant protection for an off at 135?
