In typical GRM fashion I pretty much bought the first non Opel part for this Opel. Some E36 M3 you cannot pass on. I pick it up Monday.
For $200 I am getting the proper side Lamborghini Gallardo (sp?) header to put the turbo in front of my engine. $200 is a damn steal (from my research a couple years ago).
Stumbled in on it when I picked up my Cayman. The mechanic had to buy a pair of the headers and wanted rear dump for his Audi. Said he'd sell me the other one cheap. Boom Pow sold!
Stoked.
Best part is after the repair of the Cayman I have a couple grand to spend on Opel stuff.

2007 Rabbit(Golf) 2.5l 5cyl. Basically 1/2 of VAG v10s. Header is from a Lambo.

I'm starting to see what you're up to and I like it. What options are there for a RWD transmission with the I5? Adapter plate?
Research needed but an audi 6pd can become a transaxle. A bit of a good machinist is needed.
EDIT: If you look at the boostbrothers link they make most of the conversion for the body snatcher plan.
Pressure washed the engine and putting it in the shop today. Knowing me it will take another year for an update, but I'd love to get down on it.
Had to drive out from under it. Probably have not used the hoist in a decade...
Finally had time to get back to this. Been on 12hr, 04-16, shifts for a couple weeks so I took this weekend off.
Not much has changed, since even filling the cyl with oil it still doesn't go up high enough to put it on a stand. Add to that that one cannot find m12-1.75 and m10-1.50 threaded rod/allthread here on the weekends.
No central bolt on the crank and I have zero clue how to pull the plugs on this engine, but if I knuckle on to the pulley I can rotate the crank a bit and I think I found compression in either direction. 100% rebuild anyway but hopefully do not need to sleeve it.
Having a fit, in my own really mellow way, I decided to use my little window of time and started cutting off all of the wires and hoses. This may berkeley me later but a stand alone and all new stuff will remedy that.
Since I need a hydraulic ram for the hoist anyway I may buy the air over hydraulic one from the hammer store. Not sure as I do not pull many engines now-a-daze. Kind of a reason to use my IG compressor that is new to me...

I hate/love 5cyls.

I cannot wait to have a side by side pic of my factory Cayman header and the Lambo one. Porsche fails in comparison if I am right.
