Not bad! How does it do in the wind?

My camouflage net shade, from early in my ORR coursework:

Adequate, but just.

That evolved to a stand-alone 8X8 popup, which definitely requires stakes: Flag 6

I may borrow your detachable pipe idea for my next vehicle with a roof rack.

The make little clips for cheap that will help keep the tarp stable in wind. I have them on the awning of my van. Should be available at any rv place. Rigid PVC from the truck to tent pole will also help.

I use clips and straps to keep things from fluttering. It's the "lift the whole rig and throw it over the county line" wind that concerns me.

Because West Texas.

It does fine in the wind; I use strong stakes and extra zip ties when I'm putting it up.

If you'd like a little less labor-intensive solution, Holliday Canopies sells many different sized canopies in kit form, eliminating most of the work. Their options are sturdier than this design, too.
